Bye, bye sciatica
I'm not sure what I will tell him, but for right now I don't want an
epidural
, and certainly not surgery. Now, I realize the sciatica could return as quickly as it vanished, but nevertheless, it's gone at the moment. Now, if only he could do something about my COPD!

Epidural for back pain
I would welcome an
epidural
if it would relieve this 24/7 pain and allow me to walk around the block. Surgery is something else. I'm very wary.

Any experience of Remifentanil during labour?
I had spinal surgery at age 12 and I have been advised that they may not be able to administer an
epidural
. They have suggested that it would be safer for me to have Remifentinal during a natural birth or a general anaesthetic if I need a c section.

Went to see orthopedic doc
Now he wants to do an MRI and talked about an
epidural
shot and surgery. One more thing. This orthopedic place I went to is as big as a hospital. I walked in and it looked like an orhtopedic Wal-Mart. The place as huge. Giant waiting rooms and it looked like hundreds of nurses bustling around.

I have lateral recess stenosis and have been told that an
epidural
is no longer recommended for this. i am on gabapentin for severe sciatic nerve pain, it has helped but have side-effects and still have permanent pain down my left leg and foot.

I haven't got a problem with that however I've had advice from another consultant that a GA will put extra strain on my liver and I should have an
epidural
instead. Has anyone had a GA and were they pre warned about any possible damage to the liver? 🤔

My sister was diagnosed with meningitis today, she just had a baby 3 days ago, her vision is impaired now
We are suppose to get more answers in the morning after an MRI to find out what type of meningitis she contracted/how it happened, it may have been via her
epidural
. We are uneducated about menigitis and scared for her, and her mental and vision impairment this has caused. Will it go away?

New to AMN
The neurosurgeon did send me for a round of
epidural
injections to try to ease the pain the final one is tomorrow. They have helped with the back pain and the pain wrapping around my chest. I just hope that it’s not a short fix.

Bone Marrow Transplant Failed
In the meantime, the volume of my cancer had increased tenfold, causing compression of my
epidural
nerve and requiring both surgery and radiation to my upper spine. The clinical trial involved a bone marrow transplant and temporary high doses of testosterone.

TENS Unit - Helping with birth?
Both ladies did a natural birth with no
epidural
. They use this gadget called TENS Unit which you can rent it from BOOTS or buy it. What it does it sent a current everytime you get a contraction (wave if you're into Hypnobirthing) also keep you occupied during that waiting period.

Struggling
Within around 6 months my back was starting to recover but very slowly and I was sent to have an
epidural
steroid injection. Very soon after this I was made aware this injection had failed to work but problems were starting with my legs.

After my operation.
I had it done with an
epidural
, but apparently during the operation it started to wear off so they gave me a general anesthetic. Since then my breathing has been worse and I have been bringing up a lot of phlegm.
