Hello i am a newbie. Has anyone else had bilateral lumbar decompression surgery. I have lateral recess stenosis and have been told that an epidural is no longer recommended for this. i am on gabapentin for severe sciatic nerve pain, it has helped but have side-effects and still have permanent pain down my left leg and foot. Have been told that the stenosis will be slowly progressive so thinking would it be better to have the surgery now.

Lumber decompression surgery
hi dogmad60, id like to know qithers views too as im being put up for this and need to let consultant know in the next two weeks .
Not quite the same , I had surgery for a slipped disc last year under general anaesthetic which went really well . I woke up and the severe pain had gone , i had feeling back and I could move my foot . It felt amazing, I didn’t think things would improve so quickly. I went into hospital with two crutches and left walking unaided. Best wishes what ever you decide, I hope it goes well 🌸🌸
I had a lumbar decompression surgery two years ago and i was in and out in 24hrs. I had an overnight stay and was home by lunchtime the next day.xxx
I had spinal stenosis and had an operation to ease the spinal discs I think it was called a Laporectomy
Had an amazing outcome and no longer need walking aids
good luck with whatever you decide
Glad I don't have that
Hey Dogmad60! Yes, I have severe spinal stenosis with my neck badly affected. I am in constant pain with peripheral nerves involved. Since I am so sick with vasculitis right now surgery is simply not an option of any kind. Maybe if the Rituxan works - if, if, if. Hope you are able to make the decision that is right for you.
This post is on Gabapentin. Due to recent pharmacologic information I am now titrating as rapidly as possible off. See this link for the reason: integrativewellnessgroup.co...
I have other links if you are interested. Gabapentin kills brain cells!
