Hi Peeps! My most substantial accident happened in August, 2001. I was working at the Children's Center as the Director & got hurt very badly by a child. She snuck up from behind my desk to surprise & hug me.
So I wouldn't fall on top of her I fell out of my chair, & truly wrenched my spine. This certainly scared her, but she was fine physically. I however was in horrible pain.
I went to Urgent Care got a shot just to stand up-tight. After that, there were the X-Rays,
MRI'S, Epidural Injections, & LOW BACK NEUOSCOPIC SURGERY, more Epidural Injections, etc.
Anyway, the doctor prescribed opioids. I just now tapering off the opiods. Now I'm on Gabapentin which I hate b/c of the weight gain. HELP! This really sucks!

I use to work in a school with preschoolers we were in the gym and I was helping the children do something one child desided he was going to flop on the floor right where I was going to step I ended up stepping over him and almost fell on top of him. I didn’t fall or hurt the child.
Good thing this all happened before I was using a cane.
I have worked, with Children, a fair amount in the Past. The Closest I ever came, to 'Causing' an Accident, came In My Own Home. I was entertaining Friends, Him, Her and their Children. The Little Girl, then about seven, went into my Bedroom- I hadn't locked the door- and began Bouncing on The Bed. Before ANY, of us, could stop her she had Bounced clean off the bed and was actually 'Flying', through the air. We all held our 'Collective' breath....As she landed Safely on a Box- that Crumpled under her Head! The 'Giggling' Child wanted to do it Again. Strangely enough, her Parents, Persuaded not to. I felt Terrible imagining, what could have Happened, IF she had landed Directly ON her head. Mum & Dad were 'Fine' with it...'Accidents Happen, no harm done'.
Another friend took a 'Dive', down his Staircase, to avoid his Child. Fortunately HE wasn't badly hurt.
Was on Gabapentin about 18 months ago for fibromyalgia. Really helped me. Don’t really have much weight gain but when stressed I tend to lose it anyway.
Did make me dizzy though but not so as I couldn’t do tgings
I have been on Gabapentin for 5 years now I was recently contacted by my surgery to ask my side effects the one that worried me most was my memory or forgetfulness and they said I had to come off it as this was a common concern but I was dreading going back to the pain I endured beforehand (fibromyalgia) so I have now been put on Pregabalin this is only my second week so I can’t comment on this however I believe the call from the surgery was due to reports in the media and press regarding the use of Gabapentin, I didn’t experience much weight gain however I did become very sweet toothed often replacing my meals for chocolate or biscuits.I hope this is helpful.
