A safe pair of hands at last.
I need to be able to pick up the phone and get advice quick, I will also be taking the precaution of giving you pain killers through an
epidural
and NOT in your anestetic. Morphine will be a big no for you as it will put to much stress on your body (adrenals?).

Worth every ache and pain.
It was a very stressful delivery, I had a cesarean with an
epidural
that didn't work, so they had to knock me out half way through. Baby was breach and they cord was round his neck a couple of times. I then hemorrhaged pretty badly. My poor husband was in the middle of all this panic.

any advice from mums about pain relief?
I'm a first time mum to be and have been reading up on pain relief, I was determined to have an
epidural
if I could but I've now read it can make you stop feeling your contractions and the midwife will have to advise you when to push and sometimes forceps may need to be used. if I'm honest I'm terrified

Does any have had try the
epidural
and if so which results were achieved. I'm in a very negative period of my life. Loss of job, health deteriorating. I must confess that my mental strength has been shaken too much and the right word of how I feel is lost.

looking forward to op
The positive that I can see is coming from this is that due to a debilitating lung condition (no General Anethestic) I can lie on the theatre table chatting to the surgeon enjoying the sensation that the
epidural
has hopefully got rid of all my pain in my lower half of my body albeit for a short while

Home from Hospital
Doctors amazed said I should be knocked out with all these pain meds, operation I had an
epidural
and they also give me sedative meds high doses to help me relax during op and op I was actually ok. To be reviewed next Tuesday to see how the pain is settling.

Not long now ...
Also, he knows from his previous op that he'll be in considerable pain once they take out the
epidural
.

Having adown day
Cannot take the failure of the
epidural
to reduce the pain, not unendurable but wearing! And I drink too much red wine! It is OK! only a bottle or two a week, as daughter of a 'heavy drinker' and an alchoholic I am wary of going too far!

Has anyone had a spinal fusion - with good results? And how do you get a 2nd opinion?
I'll be having physio at the end of October and an
epidural
steroid injection into the spine before then (as the Dr wants to see if that reaches the right disc as he says the MRI scan doesn't show the real picture when you are standing up and the prolapse may have moved since then).

My Birth Story
I was given an
epidural
before starting the oxytocin and it was such a welcome relief. I felt like I could relax for the first time since this all started.

Message from the residential home for the elderly.
They had ruled out an
epidural
with me because of my spinal problems but said that they would do a ‘block’ through the top of the leg as well as a general anaesthetic.
