New treatment - tocilizumab
Hi. I have takayasu's arteritis and am treated at Addenbrooke's. I saw Dr Jayne yesterday and they've come to the conclusion that things are a bit out of control. I'm going to be started on tocilizumab as soon as they have secured funding. Does anyone on here have experience of this treatment for TAK

Consequences of stopping the immunosuppressants?
When I was suffering from a bad dose of campylobacter
enteritis
recently, my consultant advised me to stop taking mycophenolate mofetil. He did say to re start once I thought the infection had gone, which is now.

Gastro-enteritis or drug reaction - what to do for the best?
GP thought I had gastro-
enteritis
but not very convincing. I've not had any Naproxen since this started as I assume that's the least important drug (??) and I only took 2 Sulfa tabs on Friday (instead of usual 4) and just one yesterday evening.

Advice please
I went to see the GP today - he seemed to think it was gastro-
enteritis
as I've been having diarrhoea. I'm extremely weak - I have to think about every movement plus my arthritis is a bit worse.

Pharma company Roche are planning a clinical trial of tocilizumab (TCZ) with GCA to start in a few months time. TCZ has been trialled with success in the treatment of RA (rheumatoid arthritis). The objective of the GCA trial is to gather data on whether using TCZ alongside pred can enable the patient

My Coma making sense?
After examining me the ambulance crew decided that I probably had Bacterial Gastro
Enteritis
and should go to hospital to be checked. At this point there still did not seem to be any great emergency, although this is when I was starting to deteriorate rapidly and I can only remember bits.

Please help PMRGCAuk raise money for GCA research!
Hi. This forum is free, free, free and always will be. However, PMRGCAuk is run on a shoestring and our shoestring is wearing a bit thin! We desperately need money to help us continue our work. This month, Jennifer from the East Anglia support group and I are doing the Carrots Night Walk around

What an amazing week!
Well, on top of the article in the Daily Mail that has caused our phones to practically melt (140 calls since Tuesday), we have got even more excitement to report. Lord Wills, who has taken up the cause of Giant Cell Arteritis and the tragedy of sight loss that it can cause, has managed to get the

Daily Mail features Giant Cell Arteritis
Now, the Daily Mail isn't normally my favourite newspaper, but today it definitely is. The Mail has published a long and really good feature on Giant Cell Arteritis, the tragedy of people who lose their sight because of it not being diagnosed, and the scandal of doctors who don't see what is right in

Unfortunately a few months after treatment started with Radiation
Enteritis
, so have had to leave work. The problem for me is that I had so many doctors it was decided that I would just see a gynea oncology surgeon and my oncologist who did the radiotherapy.

Do you have Polymyalgia Rheumatica or Giant Cell Arteritis? Are you still working?
Doctors tend to think of PMR and GCA as diseases of later life, but people in their 50s get these conditions too. For many, there is a need to carry on working in spite of having a long-term condition. What kind of work do you do, and how have you had to adjust your working life to cope with PMR and
