Notes for upcoming GP appointment
Prior to menopause I experienced menstrual problems both mennorhaghia and
dysmenorrhoea
, and I also have ovarian cysts and fibroids. I often have prolonged effects following colds/chest infections (post infection bronchial hyper-reactivity as per Dr Topham) and had an episode of pleurisy in 2002.

Winning
I have had a hysterectomy in my forties for heavy periods and severe
dysmenorrhoea
. Later, in my fifties had laparotomy for suspected of ovarian cancer. Now there lies one huge problem! Years later a caring GP when I complained of abdo pain said let's test you for coeliac.

The many symptoms of endo...
A detailed history will often find that the symptoms date from the patient's first period and have been ignored or treated as primary
dysmenorrhoea
, often with oral contraceptives.

I'm new here...
I haven't been diagnosed with endo as yet, the consultant mentioned Adenomyosis but wrote
Dysmenorrhoea
on my prescription. I was offered 3 options to choose to control my hormones (I've chosen to try Microgynon as I've read the coil can make the pain worse).

Newbie & scared (sorry if tmi)
When I went to the doctors was told it was
dysmenorrhoea
and given menafenamic acid to help ease the pain. I lost my husband in the November 2012 and I put my health on the back burner a bit and didn't go back to the docs for a while as figured maybe the stress was playing a part in the pain.

Hysterectomy
She has been diagnosed with polycystic ovaries, endometriosis,
dysmenorrhoea
and pelvic inflammation disease PID ( which was caused by infection from one of the other afflictions ). When pregnant with her third child ( 3yrs ago ) she was reduced to walking with crutches.

Had my Laparascopy .. Found nothing?! Feel lost ...
They think it's caused by
dysmenorrhoea
.. but how is it in previous scans they confirmed the presence of small endometriomas on my ovaries and now nothing?

Do I need a second opinion
First I was told all my symptoms were POCS, painfull periods (
dysmenorrhoea
) and the fact I had 3 functional cyst on my right ovary.

TENS?
Apparently my pain is a combination of
dysmenorrhoea
and psychosomatic pain related to my fear of my endo being back. I was wondering if anyone here has tried a TENS machine? (I know that my current pain isn't anywhere near as bad as most of you on here is).

Endo or just dysmenorrhoea??
My doctor says because of my age it will be primary
dysmenorrhoea
and secondary
dysmenorrhoea
is usually when you are older, but on looking it up myself I've read that secondary
dysmenorrhoea
is caused by another problem such and endo amongst other things.

Leukotriene receptor antagonist for endo pain
Significant amounts of leukotrienes have been demonstrated in the endometrium of women with primary
dysmenorrhoea
who do not respond to treatment with anti-prostaglandins.

Severe pelvic pain 2 weeks before period and bad dysmenorrhoea during period
My name is Leigh and I am 31 years old. I have always suffered with period pain, but it's been getting more intense the last few years. At times its so bad, that I can't even stand up straight. I have been to post and pillar to yry and get help, but my GP won't take me serious. The first time I told him

Coping day to day, fears frets and trying to get on with life!
I was told that I just had heavy periods and suffered from
dysmenorrhoea
for the past 10 years, so always felt quite silly when I had to take days off work at the time of the month, I used to think “gosh I don’t have a very high pain threshold at all” when now I realise actually I do!
