Anxiety with PD and the treatments?
Hi folks. I had to leave work about 3 weeks ago. I'm a teacher and felt like crying in front of not one but two classes. With the second one I realised it was time to go for a while. Clinicians are considering the best way forward to get me back to work. My immediate thought was 'I need dopamine replacement

Dopamine Agonists Not Good for the Elderly
I was listening to Dr. Stanley Fahn, supposed to be a world leading expert in movement disorders. He says, "Elderly people have poor tolerance to the agonist compared to levodopa: more hallucinations and confusion. Also, the prime reason for starting an agonist is to delay motor fluctuations; these

Dealing with RLS in a hospital setting
Hi, I'm new here. My dad's the one with RLS, which is very severe. Affects him from about 10am onwards, and lately into his body and arms too. I'm just wondering if anyone has ever been in his current predicament and can offer any advice. He's in his late 70s and also has Parkinson's and is currently

Carbidopa/levodopa Dosing
I have had Chronic Lyme since 1992 undiagnosed until 2004. PD diagnosed in 2005. I initially took 4 - per day - 25/100. I was able to decrease that to 2 often only 1 - 25/100 per day for 7 plus years. Until a year ago I was perfectly normal with no difficult off times - only the need to rest and sometimes

Hi All, My name is Marg and I live in Adelaide, Australia, I am 63 and was diagnosed in 2012. I don't usually write on these things as I find it a very tedious way to hold a conversation, But I heard something today that made my blood boil. That severe muscle contractor that's a cramp gone mad, is

PD and iodine deficiency?
Came across the following article today and not sure what to think of that - would appreciate PD veterans opinions on Magnesium/Iodine supplementation as recommended in the article. I believe that magnesium is crucial for many metabolic pathways, however there are potential serious risks associated

Sinemet shortage
I recently went to the pharmacy to pick up my medication, in which I usually get a 90 days supply, but the pharmacist told me that I can only have a 30 day supply because of the extreme shortage of Sinemet. Has anyone else experienced this, and is it possibly because there are more people being diagnosed

Scientists at NTU Singapore and KAIST uncover a new mechanism that causes Parkinson’s disease
The lead author, Dr Jeongjin Kim said, “The therapeutic implications of this study for the treatment of Parkinsonian symptoms are profound. It may soon become possible to remedy movement disorders without using L-DOPA, a pre-cursor to dopamine.” http://bit.ly/2xdI7qV

Anxiety in PD
My husband has had PD for 7 years. He is experiencing high anxiety. I understand that some anti anxiety medication interferes with dopamine. How is anxiety treated in patients with Parkinson's? What is an effective medication?

Hi all, does anyone have any success stories on using DA's? I'm sure my Neuro is going to try and steer me this way soon but I'm wary having heard of so many bad experiences. Thanks.
