Are you taking these antioxident vitamins to cure your gut?

As you know, the consensus from docs is that our PD started in our gut (and some say our nose, as well because we breathed-in crap that caused our PD) ...

And I recently posted another very interesting YouTube interview with a top neurologist who says that our PD is caused by ... bacteria ... pathogens ... in our gut ("leaky gut") that has leaked through our one-cell thick stomach lining into our blood ... and goes through our vagus nerve into our brain (I "think" I got that right -- please correct me if I'm wrong) ...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...

"Commensal bacteria, together with the gut-associated lymphoid tissues like pyre’s patches and the neuroendocrine network, form a close relationship between the digestive system and neural or cognitive functions."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

parkinson.org/blog/science-...

"The gut-brain relationship is real. Stomach or intestinal distress can lead to anxiety or depression. However, those gut-brain connections go much further: evidence from recent studies strongly suggest a link between the gut (the gastrointestinal system) and Parkinson’s disease (PD)."

"In the PD research field, the Braak Hypothesis states that the earliest signs of Parkinson's are found in the enteric nervous system (known as the brain in the gut). This theory is supported by evidence that in PD, non-motor symptoms, such as constipation, may appear before motor symptoms. Braak hypothesized that abnormal alpha-synuclein can spread from the gut via the vagus nerve to the midbrain, where it selectively kills dopamine neurons."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, for most of us -- we've either "eaten" or "breathed-in" the source of our PD.

I watch, skim, or listen to dozens of YouTube health videos weekly.

I proudly have anointed myself with a Ph.D in YouTube! LOL

So here's a tip I just came across about 'which' antioxidents actually cross our blood-brain barrier and will be helpful to stopping/ reversing our symptoms...

p.s. I just DOUBLED my vitamin C from 2 grams to 4 grams daily ... And Dr Linus Pauling won the Nobel prize for his work with vitamin C.

Just a small correction ‘… in a brilliant series of articles, Pauling established the basis for understanding protein structure. In 1954 he was awarded the Nobel Prize for chemistry.’

Dr Linus Pauling did not win the Nobel Prize for his work with Vitamin C 🌺

Actually, Dr Pauling has won ... TWO ... Nobels ...

Linus Pauling is the the only person who has won two undivided Nobel Prizes!

Here's a PubMed on Dr Pauling and vitamin C

So take your Vitamin C!

Could you tell me please how much vitamin C should take per day?

I'm really the LAST person you want to ask ... I'm just a Googler and YouTube watcher.

I just upped my intake of vitamin C from 2 grams to 4 grams daily.

I haven't had a cold in over 20 years.

Just PD. (not offically dx'd)

LOL

Hello - Dr Weil writes in his book, “7 Weeks yo Iptimal Health:”. Take Vit C gradually [we began @ 500 mg tablet 3x a day with meals] and work up until you have loose stools. That’s the sign of too much. Hubby now takes about 2000 mg a day, spread out. Bring water soluble, he recommends every 4-6 hours

Not disputing that Pauling thought that Vitamin C important. Just correcting the misperception that “Dr Linus Pauling won the Nobel prize for his work with vitamin C” .

By all means take your vitamin C 🌹

I apologize for not giving you a reply now ... It would take too long as I am taking from 20 to 40 different supplements daily .... I've been asked several times for my 'stack' -- and one day I'll get around to it ...

BOTTOM LINE: Because of my particular (weird) diet of O.M.A.D. (one meal a day for #496 straight days and all calories eaten within a 2 hour windows) -- I know that I'm not getting enough of certain nutrients.

But how do I HONESTLY FEEL about taking supplements?

I think they are making the vitamin manufacturers VERY RICH.

I haven't got a clue if I'm helping or hurting myself (overall).

But I ain't dead yet. And I'm not turning green, either. LOL

And I think that 90% of "vitamins" are sourced from China and India where manufacturing standards are pretty much non-existent.

AND ... chock full of toxins like lead, cadmium, arsenic, etc.

See my recent post on this which gives a link to a gov't source which has issued ...

3,700 WARNINGS to food and vitamin manufacturers on POISONS/TOXINS in their products!

And see my recent post how I discovered that a highly-rated vitamin I recently purchased from Amazon and labeled on their web page as: "MADE IN THE USA" ... that when that bottle was delivered it read: "FORMULATED" in the USA"...

FRAUD. BIGLEY.

Yes I've contacted the company .... AND ... a prestigious law firm in the state of the vitamin manufacturer's headquarters .... the FOUNDER of that law firm (with multiple offices across the state) ... emailed me TWICE last week of his interest in filing a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT against this vitamin manufacturer (which has had at least '5' legal actions against it since 2020).

So vitamins?

BUYER BEWARE!

Is your law firm working on a “ no win no fee” system? Possibly they see big bucks rather than supplement purity as a good reason for considering your case? Made in America doesn’t mean grown in America,Many herbs that are in use can only be grown in climactic conditions very different to the US or Northern Europe,so we are dependent on Asia and the far east for the base product of many herbs. The best thing we can hope for is finding a company who buy the raw ingredients and process them cleanly, without the fillers that seem to be added to 90% of pills on the market. It’s interesting to check the percentages of supplements and additives in different popular brands on Amazon, many have the same percentages, which seems to indicate they are made in one large plant ,then sold to multiple companies.Iv found smaller companies are often more ethics and product purity driven, the bigger the company the more likely they are profits driven by their shareholders.

Vitamin C has significant health benefit at higher dosing, but in some people, doses higher than 2000 mg/day have caused kidney stones. I have seen this happen in a friend.

mayoclinic.org/drugs-supple....

Here is a relevant quote :

' In some people, oral vitamin C supplements can cause kidney stones, especially when taken in high doses. Long-term use of oral vitamin C supplements over 2,000 milligrams a day increases the risk of significant side effects. '

So it seems worth watching for this potential side effect if dosing vitamin C above 2000 mg/day.
