AGM 2017
I learnt how it increases muscle mass and as a consequence,
Dopamine
amounts. The exercises demonstrated targeted thigh and calf muscles. As always, I developed RLS last night and therefore used these exercises.

dopamine
receptor agonists and antagonists on terminal arbor size." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12372014 "D2

Has anyone else tried GABA?
This is because RLS has several causes (iron, folate, GABA,
Dopamine
deficiencies by problems with absorption or not crossing the blood/brain barrier). And stress (over- active adrenals) can make the problem worse. Plus food and environmental triggers. And spinal mis-alignment.

Stimulating dopamine production
I used to naively think one 'used up'
dopamine
when one moved. After all you need
dopamine
to move, but apparently the opposite is true. Any movement, even passive movement (when someone moves your limbs for example), stimulates
dopamine
production.

Champix…The choice..!!
It attaches to receptors, which release a brain-reward chemical called
dopamine
– you get a hit of pleasure . When you take Champix (varenicline), it attaches to many of these receptors. The result is: you get continual release of that pleasure chemical
dopamine

Augmentation, opiates, benzodiazepines
I read a lot on here about the danger of augmentation with
dopamine
agonists and of switching to opiates. But from what I read, opiates are also
dopamine
agonists. My doc is probably about as keen to let me have opiates or even benzodiazepines as offer an alcohol a drink.

A second medication
I already take codeine but can't take it every day due to tolerance build up-it just doesn't work when I do that.I don't want to take a
dopamine
agonist for fear of augmentation. Has anyone any suggestions? x

Neurotransmitter-nutrient relationship (from Dr. Walsh's book "Nutrient Power: heal you biochemistry, heal your brain")
On p.151 there is a table which lists 5 neurotransmitters (serotonin,
dopamine
, norepinephrine, NMDA, GABA) and nutrients affecting them - in case some of you might be interested in looking at them, here are the ones affecting
dopamine
: Increased activity : tyrosine, phenylalanine, vitamins B1, B6,

Sex and dopamine
Research has found that 'mating' stimulates
dopamine
production IN MEN! Apparently women need to engage in 'nesting' to achieve the same effect! Yes nesting is housework and tidying but it is also shopping! Another tip from my sessions with Dr Farias fariastechnique.com

Tremor when excited/involved/emotional
Is it a shortage of
dopamine
? As in not enough to manage emotion and movement control at the same time? Or is there a better explanation?

Disco legs
I asked the doctor for a prescription but unsurprisingly said no and that there were other
dopamine
based medicines i could take instead. However i am totally sane and know to take diazepam only when absolutely needed.

Recently diagnosed with Parkinson's syndrome.
I was started on a
Dopamine
medication. I took a half pill 3 times a day for a month. But it did not help at all. It actually made it worse. My doctor took me off the medication. I am looking for a better way to take care of this. If you have any suggestions, please share them with me.

Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy
Hi everybody! I'm Lisa from Greece, 31 years old and 4 years ago I was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy, after suffering my first (and only) grand mal seizure. Since then I only have myoclonic jerks (they only appear after I wake up, lets say approx once a month). I was on depakine chrono

ScienceofParkinsons, locus coeruleus, and norepinephrine
Yes, atypicalities of alpha-synuclein and pathologies in dopaminergic processes are important, as are
dopamine
-related treatments. However, focusing entirely upon
dopamine
seems to be an error of omission.

Dangers of neupro patch
I've met hundreds of pwp online who also had impulse control disorder symptoms and hypomania symptoms as side effects from patch Only one other pwp that had extreme side effects like me This pwp is exact same age as me and dx'd same length of time as me I'd say 95% of hundreds of pwp I've met on

L Tyrosine may be helpful
My next attempt at relief is to try L Tyrosine is a non essential amino acid that is the precursor of the neurotransmitter,
dopamine
. Tyrosine is converted into Levodihydrophenylalanine (L-Dopa) and L-Dopa is subsequently and avidly converted into
dopamine
.

The benefits of exercising to music
One aspect of Parkinson's is the body's desire not to move, which it achieves by reducing
dopamine
production and freezing, rigidity and bradykinesia.

Methylation and PD
Increased methylation can deplete
dopamine
, norepinephrine and 5-HT; increase acetylcholine; and cause hypokinesia and tremors. These effects are similar to changes seen in PD, and interestingly also, they are similar to some of the changes that are associated with the aging process.
