Dr. Richard Isaacs, MD: Big Pharma has the upper hand and they know it
As two more options came onto the market -
Docetaxel
, also in 2002, and Trastuzumab, in 2007 - list prices rose to $2488 and $5300 respectively. A similar trend was also shown across medicines for the treatment of kidney cancer, and lung cancer, rising 411 and 44 per cent respectively.

New treatment
Hi been to see the onc the carboplatin hasn't worked my ca125 is going up.seems a bit of a waste of 15 weeks, especially when I told her at the start I wasn't happy having carboplatin again.having to have more chemo after only 2 months does not say to me the carboplatin was a success first time.anyway

Nail changes with chemo drugs
Two groups of chemotherapy drugs are particularly prone to cause nail changes: Taxanes e.g.
docetaxel
and paclitaxel Anthracyclines e.g. doxorubicin, idarubicin and epirubicin. Nail changes may also be seen with hydroxyurea.

Anisina works with standard chemo to kill cancer cells 20 times faster
This a shorthand term to describe a family of drugs that embraces mainly the taxanes (paclitaxel,
docetaxel
, Abraxane) and vinca alkaloids (
vincristine
, vinblastine, Vineralbine) and which work by blocking the ability of cells to divide (mitosis).

IN CASE THIS IS OF INTEREST TO ANYONE.
In addition, the Scottish Randomized Trial in Ovarian Cancer (SCOTROC) trial suggested that as primary treatment,
docetaxel
(Taxotere) and paclitaxel have similar efficacy when combined with carboplatin and that
docetaxel
produces less neuropathy.

Hi all. Has anyone had lung cancer that has spread to the stomach?
They have now scheduled him to start a new course of
Docetaxel
on Friday. He's really deflated... He would have been over half way and now he's back at day one again. If anyone here has any info/experience of being in the same situation it would be great to hear your thoughts :)

Docetaxel treatment & effects?
I have been on Pemetrexed maintenance which appears to have stopped working so my oncologist has now discussed the possibility of treatment with
Docetaxel
. I am just wondering if anyone else has had this treatment and what it was like?
