A DNA test, a book and a diet - AFib Eureka moment !
First I wanted to say what a fantastic group this is and just how much it has supported, reassured and lifted me on my AFib journey, it’s been invaluable I’m a 61 year old woman with paroxysmal lone AFib, possibly SVT too. My story in brief is that I was diagnosed 3 years ago after my Fitbit showed

Is going gluten free worth it and achievable?
Hi, lots of times I see advice here to go gluten free. Be really interested to hear what people think. Is it’s really worth it and is it achievable? At the moment I’m far from gluten free. I love wholewheat pasta and sourdough. I tested negative for celiac disease but my genes were analyzed as part

Gluten free diet
I notice that a strictly gluten free diet is often recommended on this forum. What is the reason, and does it apply to both hyper and hypothyroidism?

I got regular bursts of self-resolving Afib since the age of 19, ten minutes here and there. During this time I was chronically low carb dieting and overexercising. My longest episode was in 2019, at age 29, where I woke up in it. Went to A&E and it self resolved about 10 hours later. Had PACs/PVCs since

About me
In the late spring of 2015, I found myself depressed. I sought out a psychologist. I quite liked him, but treatment had no positive effects. I was experiencing strange physical effects at the same time… Things like walking became difficult, my body was stiff, and my sense of smell and taste had diminished

DBS effectiveness.
Was DBS effective in treating your pain, stiffness, dyskinesias? Did it have any affect with freezing? I find myself taking more and more meds, and new treatments are taking to long to get here.

The amazing Kidney
I’m a senior citizen with stage 3B chronic kidney disease. My kidneys were damaged when I was eight years old. Unlike most with CKD, I am not diabetic. It seems that a plant based low protein diet is the only known way to maintain what’s left of my kidney function so I’m always looking for diet information

Inspiration
This is a photo of me after 9 months on ADT, age 70. I’ve always tried to stay in good shape. Jack LaLane inspired me as a kid in the early 1960’s. Later inspired by Larry Scott, Arnold, Lou and others. I built muscle naturally, no steroids. As my testosterone naturally decreased in my late 50’

Hello, am newish in the group. Just updated my bio with my story and how I ended up where I am. I have had PMR like symptoms since around 2003, that seem to flare for a few months and then goes back to being just about liveable with for a while when self medicating with ibuprofen, before flaring

Tinnitus
Hi everyone. I’ve had tinnitus for about…..I’d say 25 years.? Started in the left (high pitched but ignorable for the most part) but about 4 months ago went over to the right. This one is much more obtrusive and sounds like someone’s hosing down a yard. A real pain in the ass and intuitively I feel that

DBS lead placement options.
Morning all. I had a zoom meeting with my neurosurgeon the other day. I’m pretty sure that she stated she was going for the STN as the site for leads. In my typical blokey way I just nodded along accepted whatever she said. But reading up on lead placing, I’m getting the distinct impression that for
