Liver ultrasound painful
Hi there everyone ☺️Just wondered if anyone else had the same experience I had. I've been told I have PBC and after a recent fibroscan (which was painless) was told I may have fibrosis so was sent for another ultrasound to check. I know I have fat on my liver so I'm not worried to hear about that but

Stopping diuretics
I have been on diuretics since 2022 and finally reduced to 25mg spironolactone which I’m due to come off. Now recompensated/compensated. It’s been a long journey since 480mgs of a combo or ferusamide & spironolactone. I’ve heard weight gain might occur when I stop. Has anyone experienced this? My hope

Firboscan results NAFLD - general question about scale
Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD or NASH) and fibroscan results. Has anyone come across scale that diagnosed F4 (cirrhosis) based on fibroscan result below 11 kPa? (NAFLD or NASH) I found this for example: Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD or NASH) 2 to 7 kPa F0 to F1 Is normal.

Fibroscan
Hi, I’ve got ongoing liver issues due to alcohol, which I am seeking help for. I had a Fibroscan 6 months ago with a kpa of 7 and S2 fat (268). The heptologist advised to keep drink to moderation and eat a healthy diet and to rescan in 6 months. Recent ultrasound a few months ago shows fatty liver

ALP and GGT
I was drinking about 70 units a week in January, I am female and 57, my liver blood tests came back with high ALP, AST, ALT and GGT results. I immediately stopped drinking, lost 21kg and am now in normal BMI range and continuing with healthy eating and daily exercise. I had an ultrasound which showed

Interesting diet study for NASH and Fibrosis.
"A clinical trial, led by a team at NDPCHS, has shown that a three-month rapid weight loss programme was not only safe but also effective in reducing the severity of a liver disease non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) with liver fibrosis." https://www.phc.ox.ac.uk/news/rapid-weight-loss-found-to-be-safe-and-helpful-for-people-with-liver-disease

Very scared again
Hi, I posted here a few months ago and people were so genuinely nice to take the time to respond. Last year I had multiple tests because of symptoms of cirrhosis I have (they are not terribly obvious to others, they are to me). Amongst all the tests I had, the Fibroscans came back at 3.33 or so but

decompensated liver
Hi all, Around a year ago my mum was admitted to A and E with decompensated liver due to alcohol. It was very hard to get her admitted despite numerous phone calls to the doctors and the ambulance because she had capacity. She had ascites, encephalopathy, oedema and was yellow all over her skin and

Made to feel ashamed
I'm sorry if this is insignificant but I have just had a 'health review ' at my local doctors and made to feel ashamed and embarrassed and absolutely awful about myself.I have liver cirrhosis, I was ill November 2022 and had numerous scans and it was confirmed by a fibro scan. It scared the hell out

When to take Carvedilol?
Hi there, I haven't posted anything for here for a while - but do read other's stories and experiences which is often very helpful - so thank you! I am now taking 12.5mg of carvedilol per day - taking one in the morning and one at night before going to bed - I often feel the morning dose leaves me

Fibrosis?
Hi there. Continuing my journey to recovery, I was today told by my doctor that I need to have a blood test to see if I have any scarring of the liver. My LFT’s are better than they were in June last year. An ultrasound in August 23 noticed a fatty liver. So, can you still get scarring of the liver

Antihistamines and NAFLD
Hi! I was recently diagnosed with non alcoholic liver disease a few months ago. I’ve been suffering really badly with my hay fever this year. I’m currently on 120mg Fexofenadine, I have been for several years, and Dymista nasal spray. I was just wondering what antihistamines others with liver disease

Contrast ultrasound for liver hemangioma?
Hi me again. I had a normal ultrasound which detected a possible liver hemangioma. The hospital are sending me for a contrast ultrasound to confirm. Online it looks like an MRI is the usual way to confirm this. Is a contrast dye ultrasound as effective? Thanks.
