Scheduled for my first fibroscan this month. I refused to have another gastronoscopy due to a really bad experience. I was diagnosed with decomp ARLD cirrhosis in 2022. Now recompensated so there is much hope for anyone struggling. You must do the right things & make better choices. Mindset is key. The reason I’m having this scan is to see if I can come off the last bit of medication I’m on for portal hypertension. 3. Something carvedilol twice daily. I think & hope I can.
Anyone else have this experience. No varices thank god
Thanks & blessings to all

Hi, hope scan goes well and you get good news. Well done for getting this far, it's hard work and a bumpy road. The last tablet hubbie was on was for water on his legs. They reduced it to as low as they could after clear scans and becoming compensated. He then was told to self manage and it took about 6 months before he stopped it all together. When he over did things he had problems but a year on from stopping altogether even doing a lot he has no problems at all and has got stronger and healthier than he's been in years. He still has a yearly gastroscopy under sedation and he had no varices either aswell as 6 monthly blood tests and ultra sound. The trick is to carry on doing all the good things, eating healthy, exercise and no drink even after you start to feel good. He has cirrhosis, no surprise his liver has battle scars after what it's been through but LFTs normal. There is hope as you say.
