Statins and Malcolm Kendrick's: The Great Cholestrol Con!
I saw Helvella's post regarding the article in the Guardian on NHS checks; I did post this elsewhere, but I guess would only be visible to folk following the original post, so I thought it may be helpful to post separately. Some on here may well be aware of this work: The work of Malcolm Kendrick

'But you look OK'
I don't look OK, spinal curvature, so I've never had this. Can folks explain to me where the idiots who say this are coming from? Broken limbs, skin conditions, people don't look OK. Systemic conditions, heart, liver, kidneys, GI, people being correctly treated look OK. My SIL has myeloma - but she

My scientist friend, who is working on a vibrotactile coordinated reset prototype for me, drew my attention to an article in New Scientist - which is very interesting https://www.newscientist.com/article/mg25734290-100-restoring-the-brains-mitochondria-could-slow-ageing-and-end-dementia/ Quick take

Are statins essential if you are suffering from AF and/or past strokes? And how much is 'good'?
Just seeking some views on what constitutes the 'correct' level of statins to take in various situations. I have been taking 10 mg of simvastatine for six months and found this is no problem for me and it has marginally reduced what was a very low LDL cholesterol level in the first place. But my doctor

Insulin Resistance, Parkinson's Disease, Consequences And What To Do About It
The topic of insulin resistance (IR) in PwP is not often discussed. Has your MDS or neurologist ever tested you for IR? It is estimated that two thirds of people with PD who are not diabetic, have IR and very likely are not even aware they have IR as discussed here : https://www.parkinson.org/blog/

Hi allI'm fairly new to the forum and I'm finding all your info and wealth of experience extremely helpful. Have learnt that addressing possible nutritional deficiencies is important before Thyroid hormone therapy can be optimally effective. I have Hashimotos and recently posted full thyroid panel results

Help with a gluten free diet? Any gluten ataxia support groups?
After nearly 3 years of gluten free and dairy free diet, I would like to hear from others. Their personal stories and any support groups. There is so much information and knowledge to share with each other. Thank you.

is it common for coeliacs to have crohns or colitis as well?
hi Coeliac disease runs strongly in my family, my Nan, mom and brother all have it - I had been tested regularly for it over the last 30 years but had severe food poisoning in November 2018 which triggered coeliac disease and a lactose intolerance. Tests always came back negative but never had any
