My Opinion: Collateral Damage due to Discontinuance of Pramipexole
Hi, All. I was going to write about this year's months-long Hell due to discontinuance of pramipexole virtually cold-turkey, following more than two decades of daily use. Having found that circumstance recently has been described by others, I think it may be more helpful if I instead comment on the

An exciting new clinical trial called STEM-PD is due to start in Sweden and the UK for Parkinson’s.
The symptoms of Parkinson’s are caused by the loss of dopamine-producing nerve cells or neurons in the brain; and researchers have long proposed using cell transplantation as a treatment option for replacing these lost dopamine cells. One challenge presented to research teams however has been generating

Dihexa peptide shows potential for PD and ALZ and (I believe) is currently available
hypothesis, demonstrating that Dihexa, given by abdominal injection or orally, completely restored lost motor function. Moreover, staining for tyrosine hydroxylase (TH), a marker for the dopamine neurons that were lost following chemical lesioning, returned to near normal after 34 days of treatment.

Irisin reduces AS aggregation
Amelioration of pathologic α-synuclein-induced Parkinson’s disease by irisin Irisin is an exercise-induced polypeptide secreted by skeletal muscle that crosses the blood–brain barrier and mediates certain effects of exercise. Here, we show that irisin prevents pathologic α-synuclein (α-syn)-induced

Trialling Buprenorphine and Dipyramidole - experience
Hello everyone! I’ve been around for a little while but I’ve been waiting for something definite to report. At age 56, the RLS was getting very disruptive so I had to find an alternative to my usual sleep medication. It took me a few years. In the end I returned to my old GP, who listened and thought

Interesting Information in an Article in the Washington Post
Parkinson’s patients and researchers search for exercise ‘prescription’ A mix of high-intensity aerobics and balance, strengthening and stretching exercises may delay the disease’s onset or, ideally, prevent it altogether. By Marlene Cimons Washington Post November 26, 2022 at 7:05 a.m. EST Retired

Opicrapone
Hello. My (new) neurologist has suggested Opicrapone, which he says prevents spme protein from interferring with the usage of Dopamine, and therefore I should be able to decrease my Sinemet dosages. Has anyone else tried this, and if so, what was the outcome? Were you able to decrease the C/L, and

Is Jornay PM a better option for someone with a tendency to abuse adderall?
Adderall is great when I take my prescribed 30mg dose, but occasionally I double or triple my dose in attempts to combat depression symptoms. Sometimes I’ll take more later to put off the crash, and then I don’t sleep and function so poorly for the next couple of days that I might as well be unmedicated

Tricyclic antidepressants , amitriptyline in particular, delay the need for dopaminergic therapy in early Parkinson’s disease.
Individuals taking tricyclics antidepressants (amitriptyline in particular) had a lower probability of initiating dopaminergic therapy within the first year of their study. This observation suggested to the researchers that treatment with tricyclic antidepressants may delay the need to initiate dopamine

Suggestions on natural herbs or vitamins to boost your mood?
I'm feeling sad we lost a young friend to suicide, and my heart hurts. I've used ashwaganda before but I think it takes a bit to help, PD makes my emotions more sensitive, I'm sure the low dopamine is a factor. I have low blood pressure and I didn't know it can cause low blood pressure, I've never

Legs that kick íike a marionette
PHowdy Everyone, I have forgotten how to search within the CurePD community, so I must apologise for raising this issue again buy this might be bit of a head scratcher so here goes;I have always had issues with the idea that dopamine neurons die and that you can't come back from that. About 9 months

Adhd and Restless legs
Does anyone know if there is a correlation between the two? Anyone have both and take medication for either? Have been interested as my daughter has recently been diagnosed with adhd and have read how dopamine plays a part in both. I've yet to find anything substantial myself.

Negative levodopa
I first posted this on the Neurotalk forum in 2018. I make a few additions here. Recently I heard the story of a women who controlled her dyskinesia by eating protein. Levodopa induced dyskinesia normally occurs when levodopa levels are at their highest (typically between 30 minutes and 90 minutes

Graph showing levodopa levels during the day: on/off and dyskinesia
Some time ago I wrote an app that models how levodopa levels vary as a result of the medications that we take. This is based on pharmacokinetic values such as the half-life of a drug. To use it, for every dose that you take per day, you enter the time of the dose, the name of the drug and the size of
