so, have started Caelyx every 4 weeks as carboplatin and paclitaxel and Niraparib have stopped working. Surgery to remove peritoneum and resection liver not an option. Does anyone have experience of just Caelyx? Is it effective on its own? Thankyou

Third line chemotherapy, Caelyx
Hello Skyeplus , hope you are feeling well.I started in December with caelyx only but the doctors were not happy and add carboplatin to give me more chances. So since January I have caelyx/ carbo.Mri with diseases stabilised after 2 and treatment however
Ca 125 is still very high 525 after my 4 th treatment caelyx( 3rd carbo/ caelyx) that scares me a lot.
However doctors say what is important is the MRI.
I n my humble opinion, share the same as the doctors:carbo / caelyx gives us more chances
to fight.
All the best xxx
Hi Skyeplus, I have had 2 cycles of just caelyx as, like you, I am now platinum resistant.
At the moment it seems easier than carbo & paclitaxel in terms of side effects - much easier to tolerate and I seem to be getting good results. My CA125 dropped from 144 to 90 after my first treatment and the fluid which I had around my right lung hasn’t recurred (I had previously had to have 2 chest drains while on carboplatin).
I will have a scan after my 3rd dose and obviously won’t know how effective the Caelyx is until after that but judging on how I’m feeling currently, it seems to be effective for me. Good luck xx
Hello, I had a similar journey to you which started in 2019. Niraparib stopped working, I had a bad reaction to carboplatin and other drugs you mention stopped working. I was told at Clatterbridge Liverpool that surgery on my liver was not an option. They couldn't offer me anything else so I was referred to Christie Hospital in Manchester. The first thing my new oncologist said was " I think we can offer you surgery". I was gobsmacked! Still don't understand why the other hospital wouldn't even discuss surgery. So I would recommend a second opinion from another hospital. You have a right to ask.
I'm just recovering from a full liver resection and surgery on my diaphragm. It's been tough but I'm hoping it's been worth it. Having follow up in 2 weeks.
Good luck. Advocate for yourself and ask the difficult questions.
X
I wondered how you got on? I’m to start Caelyx only as carboplatin and paclitaxel haven’t worked. I know we are all different.
