I was diagnosed with IBS nearly twenty years I am 68 now. 3 years ago it flared up nausea pain constipation. Hospital run all the tests cameras, scans etc. found nothing significant. As I have not improved saw the gastro doctor at hospital this week see if he has any more answers. He said I need further investigations as may have prolapse in bowel which is causing the problems with going to the toilet etc. first time this has been mentioned after all this time. Need a special MRI to look at bowel. Then may need surgery to correct . Has anyone had this procedure and scan . Feel anxious about this . And surprised at the diagnosis.

I've had several rectal prolapses over the years. Needs colorectal surgeon to diagnose. Resolved, in my case by banding. Process uncomfortable but not painful. Nothing to worry about.

I had bowel prolapse surgery over 20 years ago - a section of bowel removed. I do now have a degree of possible IBS, but the surgery was nevertheless very beneficial. And doubtless more sophisticated now too.
