CLL/SLL, what to expect?
I am 82 and on w/w for 4 years. No symptoms that I am aware of. Original diagnosis based on bone marrow "The marrow is involved by CLL/SLL 30% of the overall cellularity. Fish reveals 11q deletion. The marrow is otherwise normocellular (30%) and demonstrates maturing trilineage hematopoiesis. Normal

Getting it Wrong on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
This article in the NY Times refutes the conclusions of a study that advocated psychotherapy and a gradual increase in exercise as the most effective treatment for CFS. Whether you have been diagnosed with CFS or not, you may find this interesting if you are a student of the treatment and understanding

Hi my fellow CLLr's I need some feed back. I just had my 3 month visit to see my Oncologist at M.D. ANDERSON and I'm very confused on what I should do. Even though my doctor says my numbers look ok and I don't have any symptoms other than small swollen lymph nodes and occasional night sweats he offered

Latest results. High cholesterol at 25 and possible PCOS? Help please :)
Hi I've had some results recently and was just hoping for some advice on a few things that are concerning me. After the first 2 test results my gp said once my b12, folate and vit d had been treated we could trial levo if still symptomatic. In all honesty I don't really feel much different. However

Latest results
Hi does anyone mind having a quick look over my latest results please? Particularly anyone with knowledge of PCOS which they've flagged up as a possibility due to a raised hormone. However they've assumed I have a 28 day cycle which I never have. It's normally around 34 days I think but it's been really

Ibrutinib resistance mutations often arise early, suggesting potential as a cue for alternative therapy
[i]Mutations in two genes often occurred months before relapse of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) treated with ibrutinib (Imbruvica), suggesting potential as a cue for alternative therapy, according to a retrospective review of four clinical trials. Among patients who had CLL relapse, acquired mutations

Help! Slow down the progression of CLL
I could really use some advice. I went for my routine three month checkup yesterday. My numbers have increased and the doctors say this is an indicator of progression in my CLL. He wants to see me next month to repeat labs. My ALC doubled, My lymph nodes have increased in size and my LDH has also increased

Just diagnosed with AF - Freaking out a little bit, Help?
Hi, I've just been diagnosed with Afib at 22 and don't really have a clue what's going on at the moment. It all started about eight months ago where I felt a really strong palpitation in my chest and suddenly felt sick and cold, but it was just the one. After going to A&E they couldn't determine anything

Clinical trials: post transpant management of anti-rejection medications
I have been invited to take part in a clinical trial to reduce (completely?) anti-rejection meds. I am currently on .5 mg Prograf x 2 and 500mg MMF x 1 which I realise is quite low. Is there anyone out there who has dropped these entirely? If so, could you share experiences, either here or via message

I was on the Davita.com site and punched in my creatinine level of 1.0 and it gave me a GFR of 66, but yet by blood work shows 59. How can it be that different, does anyone know? Thanks

Chronic kidney disease & haven't been told

I will be having a CT scan in April I think. What surprised me is that the letter they sent to GP had '

Advice please!
After 4 years on w and w , my consultant found 1 auxiliary nymph node was definitely enlarged. She was concerned because CLL usually manifests in similar swellings in both nodes, and apparently 1 is not normal. I remain on w and w with my next appointment in 3 months. If it has increased in size she

Richter Transformation treatments
I was diagnosed with Richter Transformation of CLL last April and was fearing the worst. I had several different chemotherapy types, each with two or three cycles, but a biopsy in October of one of the growths in my abdomen showed that the Richter transformation had gone. The CLL remains, however.

How Ibrutinib works over time
Hi, At ASH 2016 in San Diego, CA, I had the honor of once again interviewing Dr. Wiestner from the NIH (National Institute of Health) about the prototype BTK inhibitor, ibrutinib and how and why it works so well in CLL. We have known for a while that for its survival and well-being, our cancer is dependent
