Hashimotos and asthma treatments
Hi everyone, I've had Hashimoto's disease for over 7 years (more like 20+ years undiagnosed) and I've just been diagnosed with possible asthma. I've been prescribed a brown "preventer" inhaler and a ventolin inhaler. I'm on a 6 week trial of these to see if there's any improvement and I'm having

Is it really asthma ?
I'm new to this forum and I've decided to post my questions here because I've been struggling to breathe for 2 months and it's not getting any better. Before I start, I should probably mention that I used to have asthma when I was very little until age 5 and I suffer from allergies. But after that age

New and in somewhat of denial
Hi all. Not so happy to join the group! š 46 years old, feel great besides...a couple of months back an ultrasound showed a hiatus hernia which was causing the increased acid reflux and lower chest pain. Prescription cleared it up quickly! That ultrasound also indicated an enlarged prostate. Family

Any bright ideas? (Bit of a vent too!)
Weāre day 15 of 21 on the childrenās ward and Iām scratching my head a bit tbh. The 11yo has cf (chronic pseudo since age 4) and is on 4 monthly elective IVs, and was discharged following a *mostly* planned admission at the end of Feb that included positive culture at the start for the usual PA as well

Difference between PA and B12 deficiency
Iām confused on something with this. Most of you here have PA which, correct me if Iām wrong, means that you lack intrinsic factor to absorb B12 even though you are getting B12 in your diet. What is the difference between that and someone like a vegan who develops B12 deficiency and can absorb it.

Is doctor's remark accurate?
I'm in the beginning stages of possibly getting diagnosed, and asked my doctor about the specific testing and got this response: "MTHFR is part of a cascade related to formation of homocystine. We will only see issues with this if your B12 level is low, not high. We know that your body is absorbing

What are your symptoms when your INR is high?
Yesterday I had an INR of 9.8 and was experiencing crippling chest pain as well as random pains in my head (like having a knitting needle poking into my brain) I was given vit K and rushed to the main hospital. My kidneys werenāt producing much urine and what they did produce was thick and dark. In

After going off line on here it's been a very eventful 2/3 weeks with my asthma. I finally ended up in A & E with another 169 people with a tight chest that wouldn't go away. Even though I used standard 10 puff's and it wore off in 2 hours. Chest is now fine just sore.b After having blood taken (showed

Intrinsic factor test
My B12 levels are good at the moment but Iām considering having intrinsic factor test today at the doctors. I know the test isnāt that reliable but would my good levels of B12 interfere with test? I read somewhere that they might. I havenāt supplemented with a spray for a fortnight. I have had breakfast

I'm new here but read the posts all the time
My husband was diagnosed in May of 2018 with metastis to the bone. He was on zytiga with great response to it but his liver said no so he is now on xtandi. I'm guessing it is normal to have a hard time enjoying food ,everything tastes like metal, some foods worse then others. The really odd thing now

Intrinsic factor antibodies
Can someone explain this test to me please. I got a numerical result and reference range rather than positive or negative as is the usual explanation in just about every source i can find. (2.7 result 0-6 range) Surely if you have any antibodies itās positive but having a range suggests they should

Falling b12
Hi, Iām. A bit concerned about falling b12 levels as I thought they we had stores that lasted years. In June 18 I had a raft of tests that showed b12 at 159, so right on the bottom of the UK ānormalā range. intrinsic factor antibodies test which came back at 2.7 (0-6) parietal cell antibodies test
