Itching due to medication??

shingles
I was diagnosed with PMR 3 years ago and after a fairly bumpy ride I have now been off Prednisone for two and a half months. I have been called for a Shingles vaccination. I reacted badly to the Covid jabs each time. I have had Shingles twice! Once about 35 years ago and then for the second time

AM Cortisol Test
I have tapered to 5mg using Dorset Lady’s 5 week taper. Curiosity got the better of me and last week I had an am cortisol test done. The lab where I had the test said it had to be done before 10am. I was aware that the earlier in the morning the better, but because I take my thyroid medication first

Side-effects of using Ventolin every day
Does anyone here use Ventolin every day? I need it every time I go outside, and it gives me 4-5 hrs of relief from the chest tightness, "bubble" in my chest, and shortness of breath. So I am thinking just to take it in the morning every day and so be it. I need to get things done (e.g. to get a new job

Chinese Medicine?
I met a Doctor of Chinese Medicine the other day. She gave me her card and said she does online consultations. I thought she seemed very sincere and was not simply touting for business. My question is has anyone with PMR been helped by Chinese Medicine? I know that Prednisone is the only known way

OK! I'm starting to prednisone taper again...
Yesterday I saw my rheumatologist after 4 months. I'd been doing really well on my tapering every three weeks and was at 3mg when I had the shoulder replacement surgery in July. We scheduled my follow-up for September since I was doing so well at my last visit in early June. I remained at the three

Vaccines & Increased Prednisone
Diagnosed with PMR in August 2022. Started at 20 mg Prednisone, down to 5 mg of prednisone. Also prescribed hydroxychloroquine. My rheumatologist instructed me to get RSV and Pneumonia vaccines which I did today. He is prescribing me biologic, Kevzara because I am experiencing quite a bit of discomfort

OK! Arrived at the 1mg/day prednisone level
Diagnosed with PMR last fall. Put on 13mg/day of Pred. & told to taper off at 1mg/mo. Got down to 2mg/day one month ago but instead of dropping straight to 1mg, after reading here about being careful when your dosage drops to this level, I went to 1mg one day, then 2mg next day, then 1mg next day w

Update on painful buttocks and thighs
My rheumatologist requested a CRP test for me yesterday, and it was below 3, low normal range. As I think back, I may have over done it four days in a row, and this may just be very sore muscles. My mother would have called it being “lame.” I have been taking it very easy the last couple days and

painful thighs and buttocks
My initial symptoms and PMR pain were all in my shoulders, neck, hands, and wrists. I was diagnosed in Dec 2019. Tapered off prednisone too fast (now I know) in 14 months; and it came back one month later after my second COVID (Moderna) vaccine. Just shoulders and arms, but made them very painful

Update on 8/4 post from alperk
To review, after 19 months on Lupron, Zytiga, prednisone, PSA increased on 1/23 to 0.253, then 0.309 on 2/21. Plarify scan showed only one active site in hip which was radiated, 35 grays in 5 fractions. PSA crept back up to 4.2 on 9/6 and scan showed again only one active site in nearly the same location

delaying Prednisolone by a few hours
hello, back again for some advice. I was diagnosed with PMR/GCA three and a half years ago and after a relapse I am now on 4mg. Next week I will have an abdominal and urinary tract ultrasound at 11am. I was instructed not to eat or drink for 6 hours before and to drink one litre of water one hour before

Methotrexate Confusion
I was diagnosed with PMR and GCA in 2015! I naively thought that these conditions would have “burned themselves out” some time ago, but I am still waiting! In the meantime I have a question about Methotrexate… On the suggestion of my Rheumatologist I started taking 10mg of Methotrexate a week in 2017
