Actemra and aches and pains!
I was put on Actemra about 3 months ago and have dropped as prescribed i.e. 1mg per month. I have had GCA for 14 years and was stuck on 14mgs of prednisolone for some time. It has been a struggle at times but a few weeks ago I noted I was beginning to ache in my muscles and joints similar to fourteen

Flare or Adrenals waking up
I was diagnosed with PMR October 2022 and I am currently down to 4mg Prednisolone ( down from 4.5 on 3/11). Since Monday I have been waking up around 4mg with pain in my hips. Not excruciating but definitely enough to keep me awake for a while, now getting pain in shoulders as well. This goes after

General Headache Question
Hi all, I have two GCA-related questions.... Question 1: If a GCA patient has a headache and they take extra prednisone (thinking it a flare) and the headache goes away, is that evidence that the headache was in fact inflammatory in nature? Question 2: If a GCA patient has a headache and they take

Urinary incontinence in mCRPC
I am looking for help for my 81-year-old father who is mCRPC. He was diagnosed at stage 4 about 18 months ago with mets to 8+ bones including the skull. Summary of the following treatments: Bicalutamide this drug failed in July 2023 and the patient transitioned to Xtandi started in September 2023.

Hydroxychloroquine
Hi all, My rheumatologist recently suggested I try a prescription of Hydroxychloroquine as I am tapering off of prednisone for my PMR and still having trouble with very sore muscles. Have any of you tried this as a potential way to help with PMR pain and what were the pros and cons? Earlier I was

I have GCA and I have been tapering prednisone for 3 years. I am on my second attempt at tapering prednisone and just got to 4mg. Last year I actually got down to 3 mg but suffered a 4th and acute diverticulitis attack which was too much for my sputtering adrenals. While in the ER the PA didn’t

New to biologics - don't feel particularly well.
Evening all. Hope everyone is managing ok in this cold weather 🥶. So in the last 2 weeks I've had to take rescue doses for my adrenal insufficiency, had 2 emergency hydrocortisone injections (each one administered by work colleagues a week apart) as not caught early enough and generally felt off.

Prednisolone and osteopenia
Hi I had a Dex scan a few weeks ago and my bone density showed I have osteopenia, I was given calcium and vitamin D tablets to take twice a day. So would it help if I drank milk to help to augment this as I don't have milk normally but have yogurt. Thank you in advance for any replies. Peter.

The end ??
This is more of a whinge than a question. I have been trying to reduce prednisone to 3.5mg for the last 4 months. I was diagnosed 4 years ago with PMR and GCA. I was happy enough with the one to two year burnout prediction from rhumatoligist. Yes I have read all your stories and realise it may never

If you have fibro with RA are you given meds for fibro as well ?
Hello, I've had RA for at least a decade . Earlier this year I was taken off all my medication because I could never go more than 6 weeks without antibiotics due to infections .Turns out I had a severely infected sub mandibular gland packed with calcium stones which made it impossible to have any treatment

rheumatology appointment
So I had a rheumatology appointment on Saturday at my local hospital. He is a lovely man but obviously not that informed about PMR. He insisted that if your CPR and ESR are normal you can’t be having a flair up. I challenged him on that but he insisted he was right. He also said people under 60 very
