Cholesterol levels, what's the latest advice?
After my heart attack 8 years ago I was put on Atorvastatin 80mg. I was 65. I asked my consultant what my levels should be and he said as long as my total cholesterol was comfortably below 4 mmol/l he was happy. After a bit of experimentation I found that 40mg kept me at a total Chol3.6, HDL1.64, LDL1.6

Can Anyone Tell me About These Blood Test Results?
I have a friend who seems to be exhibiting thyroid trouble. He is lethargic (he is usual active) he has problems sleeping, has dry skin and psoriasis, has difficulty walking, has mood swings etc. Unfortunately, his doctors will not listen to him and have refused in this instance to undertake a FT3 test

New paper showing relationship between TSH and lipid levels with TSH in the reference range
This paper links TSH and lipid levels. it indicates that as TSH rises, so this expression of potential problems increases also. It obviously has implications for those above 4.2 in TSH, ie subclinical hypothyroids from 4-10.

Fatigue and generally feeling low
After my HA in March 2020, I felt I was recovering well - feeling well and exercising regularly. I experienced some ectopic beats in the summer, which were checked via 72 hour monitor and deemed to be harmless - they faded away after a few weeks. Other than that life has been pretty much back

Statins
My GP wants me to start on statins based on an analysis of my cholesterol level and various other factors including postcode (not sure why this is a consideration as I live in a fairly ordinary surburban area). When I read up on statins I was rather put off when I read about the risk of type 2 diabetes

Concerned about latest Cholesterol Results
I am a 35 year old female in the UK weighing 145lbs. Had lipid profile done as part of routine bloods. These results have gone up since my last test 6 months ago. ***Please note I DID NOT fast for this test as I was unaware the GP was doing my cholesterol *** I have also done the American conversion

Blood Test Results
Hi To cut a long story short, I’m currently in month 9 of long Covid having been ill since the end of March. I’m under the care of the local NHS post Covid rehab team and being seen regularly. My GP has run a latest set of blood tests and one result is (apparently) indicating I’m coeliac. This was

Cholestoral confusion
I had a cholestoral check done as advised by my optician. Last one was three years ago when I was a stone heavier. The total level then was 5.01 and now is 5.5. I was surprised it was higher than last time as I have been eating healthily or so I thought and exercising. Can anyone help me working

What do I do?
Have just had a phone call from my health centre. The doctor is concerned about my cholesterol level. (10). This was the level I had when I was first tested on a whim whilst in holiday over 20 years ago. I watched my diet and got it down to 6 something but doctors said I should go on statins. Was given
