Article from the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Cornell Medical College about multi-modal treatment of advanced disease.
This pilot study may be of interest to most of us since it shows that even with distant metastasis patients can achieve a PSA of 0 (non evidence of disease) if a multi-modal treatment is used. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5468169/ ------------------------ A Pilot Study of a Multimodal

Totally confused
I'm 67 years old. I had debulking surgery in January, on the understanding I'd most likely got epithelial serous ovarian cancer which had migrated to the inguinal lymph node and differentiated into non small cell neuro endocrine cancer. I'm back from my follow up appointment today, where I've been

Caelyx not worked
Found out on Friday that my two rounds of Caelyx have not worked. My CA125 is now a little over 23,000. So glad I pushed for a review before I had the 3rd infusion. Have had carbo/taxol and then weekly taxol over last 2 years with regrowth happening quickly or in case of taxol before the cycle had

Life can be an arse...
Well it’s been nearly a month since I had my transplant. I am eternally grateful to my donor and wish only the very best for their family. My new liver has settled in very well. I’m feeling better with every passing day. My specialists have all been very pleased with my progress. However... Life

Feeling Deflated
This past Wednesday I went in to discuss with my pulmonologist where I am at on my journey in this life. I had previously last May thought I might consider the lung transplant. Began a required regimen and after two months of being sick from the medication decided that I was not going that route. Feeling

Wonderful NHS
I apologise in advance for length of this post but felt I had to let you all know how wonderful the NHS have been. Last week I felt more tired and breathless than normal but thought day 11 post Caelyx number 2 so low RBC etc. District nurse rings each week to see how I am and she thought that I should

Took my sister to her 3 month post scan consult today and though I know the path of melanoma and her particularly aggressive tumors was still shocked to hear the news that her liver tumors are at 8 and 9 centimeters and it is continuing to spread and grow despite the clinical trials and drugs. A few helpful thoughts
This was posted by Vicki Deem on the Yahoo group cbdg_support. I found it a good review for me and possibly helpful for the newbies. BTW Vicki's husband was treated as a CBD patient but brain donation showed Primary Lateral Sclerosis. I guess that donation is the only way to find out what truly is the

What to do?
After being in hospital,- Palliative Care for weeks, B is now in a wonderful nursing home. Twice, he has struggled to keep going, once, my son and I stayed overnight, as we thought he would not survive until the morning. The care and nursing that he received pulled B. through. He did want to come home

As his
carer
I'll be grateful for any help/
support
I can get. To start with, four days in he's finding it difficult to operate inhalers, partly due perhaps to his shaky hands... is this common, will it come, or should I encourage him to seek advice now?

ESA assessment worries
Hi, have a tough week coming up; I applied for PIP a while ago, and got the result that I had been refused. I've finally received the transcript, and there are more mistakes in it than I can count! So I've got to appeal - the face to face assessment was the most degrading and humiliating experience,

Palliative Care: Evidence base and dose
Here is a brief article looking at some of the evidence-based practices that comprise Palliative Care since this adjunct to direct care has been brought up on several posts lately. Thought I'd share the link: https://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/887834#vp_1 Missy
