1916 - Ann - (aka Liz)
Hi Al Liz was my guiding light as we first walked this path. She was a few months ahead of me on our journeys. So as I faced my op, then chemo, I always had the knowledge Liz has done this, Liz is older than me if she can get through this bit, I can do it. She was such an inspiration. Our paths crossed

NASH to CIRRHOSIS to HCC

End stage COPD palliative care
My Dad has end stage COPD and is now being treated at home as palliative care. I just don't know what to expect and I think that's what I'm struggling with. Dad's oxygen sats are currently 77-81% with no oxygen. I have oxygen for him but it's only to make him comfortable as he is at risk of type 2 respiratory

Cast adrift
Hi everyone. I hope you are all having a "good" day at least as good as possible. I am feeling very confused about my care. I am 77 with decompensated cirrhosis but still enjoying life. I saw my consultant from Q.E. B/ham last month. He said my next clinic appointment would be 3yrs time!!! Also next

In focus: complementary therapies - acupuncture
Hello This week in our month of ‘Health in Focus’ posts on complementary therapies, we’ll be looking at acupuncture. Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles just below the skin at particular points thought to be helpful to the body. These points are called acupuncture points and can be anywhere

Anyone taking Darolutamide develope asthenia, a known side effect? I've read similar SEs with Xtandi, so is this with all lutamide drugs?
My husband, who is mCRPC started Darolutamide 1 month ago. Shortly after, he started to become more weak in his legs, esp his knees. Last week, after taking Darolutamide for 3-1/2 weeks he suddenly developed asthenia (abnormal physical weakness or lack of energy). I had to run out and buy him a walker

Monday round up
Good morning everyone. It seems such a short time since I was saying this last week, I can hardly believe another week of the year’s gone and March is here already. I enjoyed some cold but bright weather here over the weekend, interspersed with the inevitable rain, but on Sunday morning I was so delighted

Status update
2020 The Arbiterone I started in July has stopped working. My last set of scans in February showed tumors stable with no new Mets. PSA back up to 15.7. My medical oncologist has recommended in-home hospice. I enrolled this past week. I am now on Palliative care only. A summary of my treatment since diagnosis

Hi all of my fellow Lingoes, as some of you will know that I have been diagnosed with advanced interstitial pulmonary fibrosis and I have been given a few months to live, however I am still very positive, so no problems there, I was visited by the McMillan nurses and what can I say, Vicky the first that

Overhead my onco being reprimanded last week. I am sure it was about me. Very long, venting. Feel free NOT to read.
I was finally referred to a palliative team which also consisted of a pain specialist for my severe back pain which makes it almost impossible to walk a full block without crying and having to stop and lean against something. I do not drive so I have no choice but to walk. It go so bad that I basically

Nightmares and flashbacks
My mum died in hospital on 29th December after a brave battle with IPF and COPD. I don't fee I cans tart grieving because I can't get those final days out of my head. I was with her in hospital every day from 11th Dec to 28th December and I stayed overnight that night till she died on 29th. The problem

I haven’t been on for a while for various reasons, but I am so pleased to see that Midge has taken over Don’s poem writing, although I expect some paw holding is going on from Don! I had an exacerbation at the beginning of December which failed to clear, so had a second rescue pack at the end of the

Short update on MIL
She has completed her 6th, and last, round of chemo. While her blood marker dropped dramatically it's nowhere near what would be a remission. We found out at beginning of January she definitely has dementia and periphal neuropathy. Chemo makes both of those conditions worse so oncologist isn't recommending

Hospital indefinitely?
Hi, my father (82), a PSP sufferer since 2014 diagnosis (Parkinsons prior to that for 3-4 years) was admitted to hospital last Tuesday and has been struggling to breathe with pneumonia. The acute infection has gone, but now his lungs are damaged and apparently, due to PSP he doesn't use them properly
