VAT query

I'm a carer, in receipt of Carers Allowance and Income Support, looking after my son who is on Enhanced PIP. I've got to have some major work done on the roof and wonder if I would be able to claim back the VAT or get any help in paying for it.

Thanks

Hi SamCJ66

If you are a carer for your disabled son and he has PIP at the top level .the care for Carers group in the UK can get you a loan/Grant for you to get the work done but there are strict guidelines what the grant can be used for the DWP also can help you to finace the repairs to your roof of your home. But there are strict requirements for this swell

If your son is under the age of 18 there's a organisation call Family trust.org who can help with making sure that your son has a comfortable life as possible which I think your roof might come under this headling because it wouldn't do his health problems any good if your roof leaked. I take it that your son has a social worker and physio they can also help with your problems or they can put you in touch with the right people or company. With regards to the Vat matter the best person to ask that is an accuontant or contract the VAT office direct. I hope that you find someone to help and advise you on this matter. Good luck. Take care of yourselves. Peter
