Hi Al
Liz was my guiding light as we first walked this path. She was a few months ahead of me on our journeys. So as I faced my op, then chemo, I always had the knowledge Liz has done this, Liz is older than me if she can get through this bit, I can do it. She was such an inspiration.
Our paths crossed in the most unusual way. My husband always used to walk the dog (pre cancer days) at 7.30am each morning. He used to pass Liz to say Good Morning. Then in early September 2017, near the start of my journey, he was off work, whilst we got over the initial shock and attending numerous hospital appointments, He was now walking Our dog at random times of the day, when he came across Liz walking her dog. As they were both there at an unusual time and not rushing off to their working day, they paused to chat. That is where the connection began. Liz told Derek she had, had the operation, I was about to face and was to commence chemotherapy due to Ovarian Cancer. The connection was made and we were brought together.
I was lucky I managed nearly 2 years NED, but Liz moved on through up to 5th line treatment, but she battled through with such, positivity, strength, poise and grace, she was a force to be reckoned with
A few weeks ago she told me she had been moved onto palliative care, ironically it was the same week I was informed my cancer had returned.
So my hubby helped her hubby chop up their sofa so a hospital bed could be put in their lounge. Liz battled on for a couple of weeks. Last week when I visited she told me I had got to continue the fight for the two of us now, I promised I would.
So yesterday as I sat in my chemo chair (you all know the type) ready to commence my 2nd line treatment (another lot of Carbo/Taxol) The call came from Liz’s number, I thought you beat me to it I was going to message once I was underway. It was her husband, Liz gained her Teal wings Wednesday late night.
When I got home last night there was a little white feather at the very start of our front path. I know it was Liz telling me she was still supporting me.
It was me who told Liz about this forum (she was a proud, private lady hence the name Ann used) telling her how wonderful and supportive it was here, not negative and you did not disappoint me. She was so pleased and happy with the advise and support she received. So thank you all for supporting and helping Liz as she did to me.
Fly high Liz with your Teal wings, you suffered far more than you ever should have, you are now free of pain, sickness and at peace.
Good Bye my beautiful friend. 💔💖⭐️🥰
