My husband did HIFU in 2010 and it failed because the cancer was on the margins. He has done Lupron, Radiation three or four times, Lupron and Casodex together. It has metasized to the bones inches back and ribs. Further treatments have been Taxotere chemo, Zometa and Xofigo. He is tired of the treatments. He finishes one and something else pops up. We call it Whack A Mole. You hit one thing and another happens. Decided quality over quantity. He is tired of being a pin cushion and going to doctors so hence the palliative care.
Thank you--I'm familiar with Holy Cross, had both my knees replaced there. Will look into them for a second opinion. I'm new on this site. Had pc surgery in 8/05 and radiation from Nov. '08--Jan. '09. Doc wanted to start lupron , but I declined as I had enough quality of life issues (ed & incontinence) and the many potential side affects was enough to turn me off. Started with Mayo in Jacksonville four years ago when psa began to rise--now at 10.1 and now they want to start with lupron shot for 4 months. I have had 15 pretty good years and now I am alone , my wife of 58+ years passed away 3 years ago today. I'm 85 in two days and I need some serious convincing to do anything at this point. Played ping-pong tonight and golf once a week. Tough to think of changes at this stage of the game.
