I am about to go to the doctors in an hour to speak about some blood tests I had done last week. To me the results are on the higher side. From what I’m reading most doctors don’t like to do antibody tests and t3 and t4. How can I persuade them to do these just to check my levels? I had lots of other

Beta Blockers
Hi, I have just been diagnosed with Grave's disease and I am on Carbimazole 20 mg and beta blockers. Stared the first just before Christmas and it seemed to curb my hunger straight away, and recently my heart rated has normalised. However I have been on Beta Blockers for 1 week and I have started to

Starting T3
Hi I had appointment with private GP and the plan is for me to start T3. I am currently taking 75/100 mg Levothyroxine alternate days. My latest results were TSH 1.28, T3 4, T4 20.4 I’m told my conversion rate is poor at 5.1. It’s suggested that I take 2.5 mcg 3 times a day to begin. If I feel ok after

Frustrating GP appointment
I've been struggling with a return of some hypo symptoms since my tsh-must-be-in-range focused GP reduced my Levothyroxine from 100mcg daily to alternating between 100mcg and 75mcg. Since then I've had problems going to the loo, I've put on that much weight I can no longer fit into my jeans, I'm constantly

How do we get a T3 test requested?
morning, just been reading through a load of things on here as I’m not sure my figures are where they should be at the moment. I’m getting a load of problems lately especially to do with my feet, muscle aches, dry skin, anxiety, brain fog (and also what I think is pulsatile tinnitus that’s driving

I’m just wondering, does anybody do this either by design or by accident?

Official trial for patients to stop their thyroxine for 6 weeks. Has anyone done this?
Have any members done this trial? This trial run by Newcastle Hospitals Trust ends in November 2024. It involves hypothyroid patients stopping their thyroxine for 6 weeks - to see how they felt when not taking thyroxine, and if they'd recommend a friend doing the same. ITT Improve Thyroid Treatment

Study
Apologies if I’m way behind and have missed a thread or two on this topic. Has anyone heard of the current study in Newcastle where patients stop their T4 for 6 weeks so doctors can see if they really need it?

I’ve been on t3 for 18 months (non converter). Had severe hair loss & itchy eyes. Wasn’t sure why - thot menopause! After everyone talking about TR NDT I was going through nhs files & found 3 months worth (at time my adrenals were smashed so thought non working TR was dodgy stopped taking it). In 6

Does this sound like Hashimoto's please?
Hello, My thyroid has been under suspicion for many years but I cannot seem to get any answers. Postnatally, (four months after giving birth), some fifteen years ago, my TSH was tested and was 12.6. Nothing was done about this. ( I have only just seen this on my NHS app). Fast forward to eight years

Is there any correlation between low thyroid hormones & spinal stenosis
Hi, Just curious. Was just diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis. I believe it has been going on for years & reasons to believe possibly not acquired but congenital. I know thyroid issues do not cause it & if there is a congenital aspect to mine of course it is not the reason. But researching any links

I was diagnosed May/June 23. I had just had my diabetes check and all was OK. Fast forward to December check and definitely not ok! I had been eating low carb and had lost weight. Life became very difficult from October with a nasty fall, mental heath crisis for our grandson while we were looking

Thyroid Specialists and Endocrinologists
Please could someone resend me the list of thyroid specialists. I'm about to get next lot of private blood tests but last one showed poor conversion of T4 to T3. NHS Endo appointment has been moved on to another 6 months time and am really struggling with symptoms. Funds are limited but worried that

Important caveat regarding estrogen therapy
Prof. Richard Wassersug tells me that estrogen therapy may be contraindicated if you have a BRCA 1 or 2 gene mutation. You can get a free, saliva germline genetic test of 30 genes from Color, Inc. as part of the PROMISE registry.

mixing different t3 meds
I was taking cytomel for 6 years. Tsh went successfully down, but I never could reach normal ft3 because of my poor adrenals. Now when my thyroid worsened, tsh went from 0 to 4,5, anti TPO increased and anti TG appeared though never had them before, ft4 at lowest and ft3 aroung middleof the range. I

Obtaining T3 in the UK
Hi My T4 is high (22.2) and T3 low (4.0). It appears I am a poor converter of T4 to T3 and would benefit from taking T3. I am aware the doctors won’t even test for T3 levels, let alone prescribe it. Can anyone recommend a reliable company that sells T3 or even a way to get prescribed in the UK. In
