Gallstones
I was diagnosed with gallstones 20 yrs ago. My gp at the time basically told me that we've all got them and to suck it up. I've been a low fat diet ever since. But I'm still in pain round my right side with referred pain in my right shoulder and every so often I have days of being sick etc. I've a new

Amlodipine question
Does anyone know if amlodipine can be taken on an ad hoc need-to basis as opposed to a once-daily therapy? My mom's BP is largely stable on a very low sodium diet, and only spikes if we go off track. Thank you.

Does being Vegan eliminate Endo pain?
Anyone heard of Dr. Neal Barnard, Author of Your Body in Balance: The New Science of Food, Hormones, and Health?? He seems to claim going Vegan along with a low fat diet can eliminate Endometriosis. Has anyone tried this? Or have you had good results by becoming vegetarian as a start?

Diet for PMR
Used to be on low carb and high meat diet. Now with PMR trying plant based diet which is often high in Carbs. Any thoughts? Been on 15mg for 4 weeks and struggling to reduce it to 12.5 mg. Was ok for a few weeks now shoulder pains have returned.is it diet related or just PMR

Test results and more questions than answers!
Hi I am hoping one of you more experienced people can help me move forward with my medication. I am currently on 75mcg Levo and 30mcg T3. I am greatly improved especially mentally - much calmer and no anxiety or feelings of panic. My weight has stopped piling on may even be reducing a wee bit - I no

Medichecks results - help in interpreting these please? Also do other people share these with their GPs and if so how does that go down??
Hello - after my disappointing dose increase of Levo of 25mg *every other day* following my last NHS blood test (3.79 - in range) but still having problems (mainly walking pain and need for long sleeps that I really don't have time for) I have now had my Medichecks results. Not too bad but think I definitely

Does dehydration cause kidney disease or does kidney disease cause dehydration?
Hi, I have been having problems now for a couple of years , had tons of tests done (including diabetes, thyroid and Sjogren's - all negative), latterly bloods showing my kidney function is declining . I have a constantly dry mouth (feels burnt and taste is tainted), digestive problems, and itchy dry

AKI ... Contrast Induced
Good morning! Can anyone tell me how long an AKI lasts and whether, after a certain length of time, it becomes Chronic Kidney Disease!? I had a heart attack 2 months ago and required Angiography & stenting. A week or so later, it was found that I had suffered an AKI due to the contrast dye used during

Alternatives for sweets
I have long been a low carb dieter, and the fats I'd eatch are the healthy fats (avocados/nuts, etc) as well as the protein I'd eat are lean meats, eggs and protein shakes. I also cut down my carbs to mostly veggies and for a snack, popcorn, healthy popped/low salt/no butter. My one guilty pleasure is

Actemra and weight
I've been on Actemra for about a year. Been off it for a few weeks because of tooth extraction and rheumatologist wants me to restart. RX insert and other research says most biologics and more specifically tocilizumab (Actemra) causes weight gain. I lost significant weight while so sick with GCA even

LCHF without dairy?
Hi there, I’m currently calorie counting which I find fits with family life because I can eat the same meals as wife and kids. Interested in exploring LCHF but I have a dairy intolerance (that’s a big part of why I dismissed it as an option months ago). Wondering if anyone does LCHF without cheese,

Staying low carb in a high carb world
I have had great success with going low carb, and sad to say I think my greatest ally in this has been coronavirus. I started December 2019, on what I first thought was going to be a diet (as in something I do for awhile and then stop) and allowed myself to break my own rules at social events. So, over

ALL THINGS LCHF
Hi everyone it's been a while since I posted in this group. Anyway, the last time I was here I had some questions about which method would be best for my weight loss journey and someone suggested trying the lchf plan. I've been trying the lchf plan for a few weeks now and I've had some positives like

Anti-inflammatory diet
I am relatively new to this site and think it is great! I read a couple of posts every day with great interest. I was diagnosed with PMR in August 2020 after a couple of months of excruciating pain in my shoulders. My GP pretty quickly suspected it and confirmed it with a short course of Pred (15 mg

Anyone celebrating Burns Night?
25th of January is a traditional feast day in Scotland (Robert Burns' birthday), celebrated with haggis, tatties and neeps. And scotch. Haggis is a meaty treat, full of organ meats, so very nutritious. It also has oatmeal, so it's surprisingly high carb, 18g/100g which is more than the tatties (potatoes

Ongoing tummy issues - no idea what's wrong :(
Hey guys! I made a post about a week ago, but just wanted to make a more detailed one on symptoms i’ve been experiencing and my worries. Sorry if it’s long! For context, i’m 21 years old, weight about 40kg and i’m 5ft1 (bmi is within the underweight region). I’ve been this way for a few years now, so

New to the group ....hi everyone
Hi I'm New to this group. My question is, has anyone with an under active thyroid found being on a gluten free diet has helped their symptoms, ie constant tiredness and over production if mucus. Thank you.
