Turning things around
I just wanted to write to show other readers that you can turn things around. I wrote on here a couple of weeks ago venting frustration at the lack of communication regarding test results and finally got to see a consultant yesterday. I was admitted to hospital in May last year via A & E and was

Graves, on carbimazole for 10 months
Not sure if you can actually see this, it's very small. I was diagnosed with Graves (Trab +ve) in April last year and have been treated with Carbimazole. It has been a bumpy ride but I am towards the end of my menopausal journey after years of severe PMS so who knows. I have been on Sertraline since

Vitamin D metabolism in cancer: potential feasibility of vitamin D metabolism blocking therapy
New paper below [1]. Vitamin D circulates in the blood as inactive 25-D. The kidneys will convert 25-D to the active hormone 1,25-D, as needed, to maintain circulating calcium levels. Elsewhere, cells that need 1,25-D first produce the enzyme that performs the conversion of 25-D. It is normal for

An interesting observation about anxiety and constipation
I've had increasing trouble evacuating, but I've recently discovered something interesting that may or may not be useful to others. I hope it will. I use vitamin C and magnesium citrate to help the process along, but even with that, I found I was having trouble and that made me feel --- STRESSED, ANXIOUS

Collagen Peptide supplements and bone quality
Y'all are familiar by now that ADT leads to accelerated BMD (bone mineral density) loss. There are a series of things that can be done -- 1, Get a DEX scan now 2, Supplement with Calcium, K2, D3 and magnesium 3, Have your MO or whoever put you on BMD medication (eg denosumab, et al) Now comes

Groundhog Year
Another year passes and the annual blood test causes its usual issues. I did get retested because of an abnormal result serum calcium concentration 2.19 mmol/L (2.20-2.60) They did the test uncuffed and I crept into range. TSH <0.01miu/L (0.49 - 5.23) like this since starting Liothyronine in

Happy Monday everyone. Please can I ask for more advice from this wonderful group. So I started on the 75 Levo on the 19 January. 50 (Accord) 25(Teva). My first few days on the extra 25 Levo I had bad headaches. Still having them but they are manageable. My moods have got much better over the weeks

Update 7.4
Just met with my regular hematologist for a follow up. The CBC looks good, with HCT dropping a bit more to 43.0%. All the other numbers look good. We will carry on with the current plan, Besremi 150mcg and monitor labs every 8 weeks. I am very pleased that the three more doses of Besremi + a single

Calcium and other bone needs
Decided not to take the 500 g of calcium built into the triple pill containing K2 and D3. It was also a huge pill which is off putting. I’ve purchased the K2 and D3 combination but picked a separate one for the calcium which contains 250 g. Good thing is it has other goodies included like manganese and

Does anyone take NDT at night?
Hi I’m thinking about swapping my meds to nighttime. I currently take a combination of ERFA and thyroxine first thing, and then another 1/2 grain of ERFA at lunch. But my calcium is very low and I need to take multiple doses at the moment which is tricky with thyroid meds. So I’ve been thinking

Do you think ivf treatment abroad is better and why?
Hi everyone, I would like to get some advice regarding treatments abroad, please. We are with a great private clinic in London, but our last attempt was disastrous. Would you please be able to share your treatment plan or protocol and how it was different from the one received here in Uk? According

HEART: The message from the heart surgeon at Columbia PresbyterianHospital is that although the aortic heart valve is thick with calcium and has stenosis, the opening has not got small enough for surgery. So, I will have to be monitored and wait till I get sick enough for surgery. No time frame is given

Roller Coaster Ride
I haven’t been very present in the group this last week. It’s been a very up and down time. Briefly I’ve had an awful time, feeling confused, exhausted and abandoned. One doctor on a telephone call upped my pred dose from 15 to 30, increased my painkillers for the better. After several bad nights both

Valium RLS
Is anyone using Valium/diazepam or any other benzo to treat RLS? The Horizant that I’ve been using for the last year and a half isn’t working as well as it used to.
