what a pleasant surprise. Rheumatologist was very nice, kind, knowledgeable.
He wasn’t miffed about me still on Steroids after 5 years. He said what a very low dose and good if it helps. Also said the steroids help with my bulging disc in my neck.
Pleased that Vit D and calcium where good.
Have to have Blood test for him Thursday then he will copy me in the letter to the GP.
Couldn’t ask for more 😊😊😊😊

Similar experience at my rheumatology appointment last week. I'm now on 4mg prednisolone but it's taken 6 months to reduce from 5mg. I expected a bit of a fight to stay at this dosage before reducing again but her advice was to stay at 4mg till a telephone appointment in 3 months. So different from the first rheumatologist I saw four years ago who wanted me off pred as soon as possible
my GP referred me x4 and wrote a letter that I was struggling to taper below 2. They were her words not mine. I asked the Rheumatologist if I was doing ok and he said yes you are doing well. So I was chuffed. Just have to wait for his letter to GP to see what he says to her. 😊. Nice that some believe we don’t actually enjoy being on Pred but it more for quality of life
it makes all the difference if you have an understanding rheumatologist …. I’ve been fortunate there… GP is also very understandable xxxxx love to all brother and sister sufferers
I'm so happy for you. Wish I could report the same. Can't even reach mine - hoops and cartwheels and then it's not guaranteed. Congrats, he sounds like a keeper.
he was pleasant and caring. Didn’t really talk much about my PMR just told me I was doing all the right things. Didn’t once mention about a rush to get off steroids just more or less QoL and 2.5 couldn’t do much harm. Didn’t feel I was on a battlefield. So came away happy. He will be in touch with me/GP when blood results back. 😊
Really good news, very pleased for you. I have an appointment with my GP next week and so worried that I'm going to have a battle to get prescribed prednisolone again. When I last spoke to her in December all I got were painkillers, must be so reassuring to be seen by a Rheumatologist.
