I have a T score if - 2.6 and f.neck -2. In July I picked up and tryed to carry a old hostess trolley and I fractured my L1. A wedge fracture.I feel I am being bullied into having an alendronic Acid infusion which I know will make my platelets drop even more than they are at the moment which I have looked up and feel it is dangerous for me. When I refused the person's concerned did not understand my fear.

I am taking vitamin D and calcium, can I take vitamin K2 as well I want to try and naturally increase my bone density. I have been given no physio at all and I am doing walks with my trolley although it takes me ages of up to 5 miles every other day. Any core exercises would be welcome please.

Also does anyone else have ITP and osteoporosis.

Hi. I don't have ITP with osteoporosis but just wanted to highlight that taking K2 may not be right for you. As I understand it K2 has a role in blood thinning. So that's something you should try to have a talk with your GP or specialist about.

For exercise, I found several youtube channels of properly qualified physios or other doctors with exercises specifically for osteoporosis. Just put a search into youtube and find the ones that resonate with you best, checking that the people are properly qualified. Also the Royal Osteoporosis Society has a whole page of exercises too: theros.org.uk

Thankyou I will ask my doctor about the vitamin k.

I’m sorry to hear about your recent fracture. I don’t have osteoporosis orITP, but can recommend Margaret Martin is a physio online who specialises in osteoporosis. She has exercise books, including one on improving core strength, videos & courses & an excellent YouTube channel with lots of information, including safe exercises. Her weekly newsletter also contains useful tips too.

I only have osteopenia, but was also under pressure to take alendronic acid & even offered to sign a disclaimer, at which point my GP backed down.

Thanks.I noticed my T was 3.1 in 2018 it's now 2.6 so something is working maybe it's the vit d and calcium + my walking . I will definitely look up the exercises and start gently.

Hi! I can honestly say don’t be bullied into alendronic acid! There are other alternatives… I am on HRT now after a month of the A A … it was frightenening and after research I wondered why we are being put on this… I felt awful… but some people ok with it… just dr Google it! I take Vitamin K2 but my doctor son looked at me on last visit with the??? Look!! I think Vit K is quite enough!! I went privately to see an endocrinologist and it was worth every penny…. Just stand your ground and get armed with info! We who have had compression fractures are worth it!!

Thankyou, I did try the tablets once but felt as if I was in a kind of daze and had stomach ache , mouth ulcers and a clicky jaw so I stopped it. I have put my foot down and said as big no to the infusion.I will ask about HRT, but don't know if they will give it to a 75 year old but I will ask. I am building myself up myself so that I can ride my bike again , I am so looking forward to that goal.

They are now making an appointment for me to see a rheumatologist.
