A and E Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh.
Woke up at 5 am Sunday morning with severe pain under right shoulder blade which remained all day despite maxing out on paracetamol. In the evening I dug out some codeine tablets I had for sciatica last year and added those with similarly little improvement. Monday was more of the same except by now

Wondering about Betadine/Povidone-Iodine solution and Thyroid
Hello all, I am preparing for a vacation - something long overdue :-) In my preparations, I decided I needed to bring along a nasal "mist" that would essentially decontaminate my nose from any yucky stuff, viruses - covid or whatever else may be lurking. I just realized that this solution has iodine

Pain - where my pain comes from! (2)
I used to visit, my GP for annual bloods, the results = nothing unusual all normal every single year on year. My visits to the GP were mainly due to the constant pain, nightmares and fatigue, we talked in the 15 minute allocated slot to determine my future! I have Pain surely I need pain killers? I

Is Long-Term Antithyroid Use the Best Treatment for Graves Disease?
This is a three-way chat among endos about long-term treatment of Graves using methimazole (effectively the same as carbimazole). Interesting the way they say that the 18 to 24 month "standard" period of treatment was based on assumption. That true long-term treatment (five, maybe ten, years) is quite

Pain support
good morning I am new to this forum. I am undergoing bloods, x-rays etc to see why I am in constant pain, but my Dr has said Osteoarthritis in my knees and possibly fibromyalgia. I have pain in my knees for approx 8 years and the rest of the pain around 2. There are days/nights where I cry in pain.

Salivary Glands Swollen 6 Months Post RAI
Hi everyone and thanks for reading! I had RAI treatment in October of 2021. My dose was 100 mci. I immediately had swollen and painful salivary glands which subsided in a day or two. I have had no issues with them until the beginning of June. Now, they constantly swell when eating. Some days are worse

Updated Thyroid levels and new Vitamin readings
Hi, I recently posted as a Newbie (under the name Sailorbo, which I've now discontinued as I had a previous registration with the BHF). As a quick recap, had a full Thyroidectomy last September due to Papillary Cancer. I'm not having Radioactive Iodine as I already have poor saliva and it might make

Thyroid problem, not sure what I have
Hi New to the forum, and could do with some advice Am female aged 60 After years of symptoms - fatigue/dry skin/hair loss/palpitations/etc I finally got diagnosed with Thyroiditis last November. I have raised TPO antibodies and a goiter with nodules (I had an ultrasound). My GP eventually organised

Extremely High TSH
Ten months ago I nearly left this world. A lot of stress in my life and I thought I was just run down and tired. Long story short I ended up in ER severely anemic, got 2 blood transfusions and still low blood count so continued with the iron. Upon follow up, for some reason I requested my thyroid tests

Statins and underactive thyroid
I've had an underactive thyroid after radioactive iodine treatment 20+ years ago. After a recent health check - no thyroid results - but cholesterol results are 'a cause for concern'. I'm seeing the nurse next week when I expect statins will be suggested. The results are Cholesterol 6.1mmol/l

Full panel and limited panel test results
I have my results back after highlighting my decision to do so on here a few weeks back. I took two panels of tests from different providers: Blue Horizon (test - Premium Gold) and Monitor My Health (MMH), both taken from the same single blood draw at my GP's surgery. Blue Horizon tested the same as

Deep throbbing, burning, aching in my right eye, very bad vision. Had to go to Moorfields a&e. Went at about

Non-medical pain relief in pregnancy?
I'm 5 weeks pregnant, and my endo has been plaguing me. My GP and others keep telling me that the pregnancy hormones should kick in and suppress the endo symptoms, but I'm still waiting! I am taking token paracetamol and considering codeine, but am nervous about the potential risks so would rather

GP not really understanding
I had RAI around 5 years ago for Graves disease which I have had since 1991, RAI was considered the best option as I had relapsed 3 times and can't take Carbimozole. When I was controlled by propylthiouracil my TSH was kept around 0.8 and T4 around 20. It took two years post RAI for me to feel any

Iodine contrast for a CT scan with Hashimoto's and reduced T3/T4 after ruptured ovarian cyst
Good afternoon! This morning I attended a hospital appointment for a CT scan to investigate the cause of my tinnitus. I didn't realise until today that I would need to be given an iodine contrast, which was administered during the scan via a cannula. Since having this done I have started to become concerned

Hi I had a thyroidectomy and was on radio iodine treatment many moons ago and is on 175mg on thyroxine. As far as I can remember my levels have never been ok. As u can see in 3 months there is a difference I've gone hyper to hypo. Before that last reading before that was in the middle of the pandemic
