Another Vaccine Dilemma! To have, or not to have a Tetanus Booster.
I've previously learnt on here that live vaccines are not recommended whilst on long term steroid medication, and that in many situations, alternative vaccines are available... as with the shingles vaccination program. Well, yesterday, whilst trimming my Wisteria, I accidentally pruned the tip of my

DBS surgery for Parkinson’s patient.
I am a 82 year old male and was diagnosed with Parkinson’s 10 years ago. My neurologist is recommending that I have a DBS surgery to deal with my symptoms. He indicated that overtime medication is less effective and this is my best option. I’m hopeful that some who have had it will share their

Two of the common conditions associated with PBC are thyroid conditions and with those that cause anemia. This is because they both have shared genetic factors that affect our immune response.

An underactive thyroid is caused by an autoimmune response to the gland itself.

Yes, You CAN have the Shingles Vaccine
Hi Everyone, I'm writing this just in case there is anyone out there who thinks they can't have the shingles vaccine because they are on pred. I believed this and refused the vaccine. I later found It was only true if you were on over 20mgs of pred (which I am not). Last October, a new vaccine

Pain all over
Hello everyone hope you all had a good holiday. As some might know I had a brain tumor removed in 2019. I've had some problems but I'm wounded if it could have triggered fibromyalgia. With all the pain and problems but I'm afraid that I'll sound like a nut job if I ask my doctor.????

Is it safe to renew my tetanus injection with being on 8mg Pred?
My tetanus injection needs to be topped up. I have an allotment in London which used to be part of a railway embankment and wondered if it is wise to take the injection or to wait till I have tapered down to under 5 mg? The same goes for the Hepatitis which is due? Any advice would be appreciated

Hyberbaric Oxygen Therapy
I have a friend who contracted Lyme disease and recently underwent a series of hyperbaric oxygen therapy sessions. The treatment has completely transformed him and he is now his old self. I have read that this therapy helps Fibromyalgia and other autoimmune diseases and was wondering if anyone knew

mucana
Hi everyone My husband had DBS done a 1 1/2 years ago. Very successful for him , he doesn’t take any medication anymore but I found that he is slowing down. I saw that there has been studies on mucana supplements. I would like to try but I don’t know where to buy it( good quality) and how much he should

shingles jab anyone?
I had a very bad bout of shingles three years ago. Yesterday my doctors surgery rang to say I qualified for a jab! I tried to ask if it was worthwhile for someone who had already had shingles and was told she was the receptionist! Fair enough but then you can’t speak to a medic anymore Any thoughts

Noninvasive deep brain stimulation shows promise for Parkinson’s. Is it an advanced form of CUE1?
Stimvia’s URIS device uses electrodes placed near the peroneal nerve in the lower leg to modulate electrical activity that stimulates specific nerve pathways in the brain. It functions as a noninvasive alternative for DBS to modulate the activity of specific brain nerve pathways. A built-in monitoring

Deep Brain Stimulation Therapy
I am seriously considering having DBS but am wondering if there are others who have successfully had this surgery to alleviate pain in the neck, shoulders, upper back & lower back. Please share any experiences with this as well as anything else you may have found that works. I am desperate. Thank you

Tetanus
Not too far back there was a discussion about having a Tetanus shot, might help PD. I tried a search and came up with only one 2 year old post. No very Techy. Can someone help me find the link to that discussion? Thank you

Flare after Shingrix shingles vaccine?
Hi Everyone, I received my second (recombinant) shingles vaccine yesterday. The first one caused a mild fever and malaise. This time my finger joints are stiff and pretty painful. Has anyone else had something similar and, if so, how long did it last? Thanks so much

Aside from easing motor symptoms of Parkinson’s disease, deep brain stimulation (DBS) may also slow disease progression
