I’m seriously considering DBS. Would love some feedback from people who have had it done.

DBS??
I just wish to point out that if you are looking for a consensus that there are many reasons why people who had a negative expieriance will not or can not respond.
You won’t know how it will affect your you until you have it done. Some people it changes their lives amazingly, some people it changes lives a bit and a minority hardly get affected at all. There’s no way you’ll estimate which of these categories you’ll fall into: do your homework and take a chance.
a profound placebo effect in most
I had DBS surgery about 16 months ago. The surgery was very routine with no complications. In general, it has been a positive experience. The benefits I (everybody is different) enjoy are better sleep and better maneuverability in bed. I am not so dependent on Sinemet any more (many times I'll forget to take it). A negative side effect I have experienced is excessive sweating at low temperatures which can be very uncomfortable. Because I have wires in my brain I am concerned about electromagnetic pulses (EMP) fusing my wires together. Also, a head injury can push the electrodes into vulnerable brain tissue and possibly cause brain injury. If the neurostimulator gets into the wrong hands (e.g. an ex-wife), they can make you feel very uncomfortable.
I read recently that it decreased cognition. I don’t know if that is true, but ask 5he question before you agree to anything.
