DBS - what event changes everything
A friend just had DBS, Until this past spring she had maintained an absolute unwillingness to consider the procedure. Then when the flowers bloomed she did a 180 and her decision was absolute and irrevocable. My friend is a few years ahead of me but not so many. This about-face of hers has me looking

Anyone have experience filing SSDI.
I've been at this for over a decade and DBS and continue to work. Although I am very cautious and am psychologically sound in saying I am not giving up, I find my job becoming too strenuous and am (I can't believe I'm saying it) thinking about filing for Social Security Disability. Any helpful hints

bilateral subthalamotomy: an alternative to DBS
Anyone have any knowledge of this procedure? It's been around since 2000 at least. "In this pilot study, bilateral subthalamotomy was performed on 18 Parkinson's patients at the Centro Internacional de Restauracion Neurologica (CIREN) in Havana, Cuba… Two years after their surgery, as a group,

Fox FactorNot a big fan Micheal J Fox
I am sure I am going to catch hell for this but I need to get it out. I am not a big fan of the way Micheal J Fox goes around to all these talk shows without taking his meds and twitching around. Then I see him on tv HBO's Curb your Whatever or the red carpet not nearly as bad as he was on Regis and

Does anyone suffer from an insatiable sweet tooth
Before I had DBS I had lost 50lbs since Dx. Then DBS and I stacked that 50 right back on and I can't get rid of it doesn't matter how hard I try. Even if I consume 1000 calories a day. Anyone else have similar problems and/or solutions. Thanks

Parkinsons Disease With A Small Injection Of Humor.
I would like to begin a chronicled look at my life with Parkinsons Disease, contributing to this effort as often as I feel up to doing so. But I must warn you, with a topic as interesting as this one, I may not miss a single day. Some days I may seem inspired and the juices may flow, while at other

Deep Brain Stimlation (DBS)
I recently (June2nd) had the DBS op at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. Having had PD for 17 years I would say the op has been a success. It is early days yet, but I hope to be back playing golf & tennis in the not too distant future. I can now manage an hour's workout at the gym 2-3 times per

Has anyone had the Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) op? I have just had the op and am keen to share experiences. I have had PD for 17 years.
I would also be keen to know if anyone with PD goes to a gym. I go 2-3 times per week and again would be keen to share experiences. Thanks. Tony
