Are Patients from Mars & Health Care Professionals from Venus? - Part 1
It has been a little while I know. Sometimes though the patient in me rears its ugly head again and I have to get out of blogger mode and in to being a bowel transplant patient. That is kind of a long winded apology but The Churchill Hospital, Oxford has seem a little too much of me of late. Now

Human carcinogens to treat CLL?
Someone asked me about this recently... Funny ...I never thought of chlorambucil and cyclophosplomide as human carcinogens, but they are.... I always viewed then as doing good, which they do.... http://ntp.niehs.nih.gov/ntp/roc/twelfth/profiles/Cyclophosphamide.pdf

HI all, I don't want to frighten anyone I just want you to be aware. I have had a pretty bad time recently and I want to ensure that no-one else suffers what I have been through. I had IBS diagnosed last year although it had been discussed many times before. I didn't believe it was IBS and several

Saw oncologist
Hi all. Just a quick update. Saw my oncologist a few days ago, and she has extended my appointment interval from 3 months to 4 months. Very pleased. She did mention that there is a bit more evidence about aspirin (and hence ibuprofen) preventing spread (metastases) in colon cancer patients.

I have been diagnosed with NAFLD. Could this have been caused due to me taking Amitryptaline as a sleeping pill for the last few years.
I have felt recently that the Amitryptaline has not been as effective as I am not sleeping well again and I am thinking of stopping taking these. I looked up what the effects of using Amitryptaline could be and it pointed to some sort of Hepatic side effects. Elevated liver function tests, drug-induced

Mirena coil not working as well as before in controlling pain?
Hi all, I found this site when searching how long lasting the Mirena is, as I am suffering from the return of endo pain after my third year of having it. I'm wondering if its because it needs replacing, or is it that my body is fighting the affects of it and the endo is taking over in a sense? I'm hoping

Truffle Festival at Uzès
This weekend I was treated to the much-anticipated Truffle Festival Birthday Treat. I'd never tasted a truffle. I also tend to think of trips abroad as something you take a week or fortnight to do. This was to be a whistle-stop weekend in Montpellier leaving Gatwick at Friday lunch time, a day sightseeing

Results confirmed thyroid cancer
Well, following my hemithyroidectomy on 2nd Jan, it was confirmed for me this evening that my lump was in fact Papillary Thyroid Cancer. I feel as though I knew this news was coming, but don't know a lot about it. So if anyone can offer anything positive I'd be really grateful. Any handy hints welcome

Trichloroethylene and Autoimmunity
The other day, someone responded to me asking why there is so much thyroid disorder and whether it is increasing or only being diagnosed more often. The part that has always confused me is what is causing the autoimmunity. I feel qualified to be an armchair speculator about some other aspects of thyroid

IBS caused by hypermobility syndrome?
I read an article the yesterday about IBS being quite common in patients with hypermobility syndrome. Hypermobile people have a problem with the collagen in their bodies. Collagen is involved with the muscles, tendons, ligaments and anything that moves in the body. It makes everything extra elastic so

Update on Curcumin Lady
On Jun 12, I posted on this board for the first time about my wife's excellent progress with Paclitaxel/Carboplatin/Avastin & Curcumin. Well, I thought you'd appreciate an update... She is now apparently disease-free and is in hospital recovering after the reversal of a defunctioning loop ileostomy
