The Holmes-Adie Syndrome in the Mona Lisa of Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519)
Another paper speculating on historical, and artistic, thyroid disease. Interesting, but always take such things with a big pinch of salt.

2 years post Colonoscopy
New to this group. I have a strong family history of colon cancer. My dad’s youngest brother passed away at 50 from it. Many aunts and uncles and some cousins have to go regularly for colonoscopy/polyp removal. When I was 36 I was talking to a couple of my aunts about my stomach issues from “stress.”

Waiting for scan results
Hello lovely ladies Hope you all well. My mum was treated for a recurrence of endometrial cancer in her lymph nodes. Treatment finished in early Aug and showed that the lymph nodes shrunk to a normal size. I assume this means the cancer cells have been destroyed 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Mums been on a trial

CT scan shows multiple liver metastases.
Hello ladies. I hope everyone is as well as can be. I had a CT scan of chest, abdomen and pelvis yesterday afternoon. I had not expected the results until Monday or Tuesday, but the report posted yesterday evening and shows multiple tumors on liver. I’m not surprised. I meet with the new oncologist

Pressure in anus and blood in stool
Hi there, I was just wondering if anyone could help ease my mind or give me some sort of idea as to what my problem might be. The past two weeks I’ve had a constant feeling of pressure and tension around my anus area. I find it hard to Poo sometimes and I find myself straining to get it out. My Poo might

The thyroid hormone converting enzyme human deiodinase 1 is inhibited by gold ions from inorganic salts, organic substances, ...
All that glisters… Not in the least clear whether this is likely to be of interest or significance to anyone. But I do think that the impact of anything on thyroid-related enzymes is an important avenue. [i]Chem Biol Interact . 2021 Oct 15;109709. doi: 10.1016/j.cbi.2021.109709. Online ahead of print

Hi everyone,
I was told when I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer to go on a low fibre diet then after surgery I could introduce fibre back in to my diet. When I had that dreadful appointment with surgeon and my cns nurse I asked her if I could maybe have baked beans she was doubtful and said we’ll try it but you

Blood on stool and colonoscopy results
Dear Reader, I have been lurking on this site for 2 months now. It’s frustrating to see people that have the same symptoms as me but never post and tell what happened to them in the end. This is my journey from start to finish. 3 months ago I had stomach issues. I though I had a touch of food poisoning

Hey everyone, I want to share what I’m going through I hope I could get some advice, A month ago I started seeing brown blood coating my stool, then it became bright red. The stool test detected E. coli which might’ve been causing it. But since then I continued seeing blood, however E. coli should only

Bloody stool and constipation
During my first 3 months of pregnancy I was having a small amount of bloody stool off and on with constipation. I got a flexible sigmoidoscopy procedure done over a month later. A small polyp was found in the rectum after the doctor did a thorough check of the colon to see where the bleeding was

Is it hemorrhoids or colon cancer ?
Is this a possibile sign of colon cancer? I have painless passing of stool, no bleeding, no discomfort but I noticed a small lump, ( pictures attached) ( nothing significantly gross) is it hemorrhoids because of my recent 1 month of poor negligent diet or is it something serious

Hyperreflexia
I would love to hear others' experience with hyperreflexia as result of PA. I have periods (often in the last days before my injection), when I get low-level random muscle twitches, mostly in my arms and back, then they subside. I have been found to be hyperreflexive in reflex tests since my PA diagnosis

Azacitidine side effect
I have MF and have been on Jakafi for over 2 years. During this time my spleen has enlarged to fill my stomach. It is not reducing, so my Haematologist recommended a chemo drug named Azacitidine. I have had the first cycle of 7 days and finished just over a week ago. However, I am experiencing Insomnia
