Neurological processing disorder from bacterial meningitis
morning, I was just wondering if anyone has had any experience with neurological processing disorders please? I went to the hospital recently for an auditory processing disorder but it’s now thought that this is wider neurological processing disorder that I need to be referred to a brain trauma specialist

Hello all, I’m just entering my second year of PMR and I’m now down to 7.5 mgs of Prednisolone but the last week I have felt awful. Very tired, my body aches, no energy. I had a total knee replacement 3 months ago and I’m due to go back to part time work next weds. Should I increase my pred for a couple

Morphea treatment - PUVA or triamcinolone injections?
hello, looking for a bit of advice as I was diagnosed with Morphea a few months ago. I’m under the care of dermatology department. It affects my whole left arm, part of my rib cage and some of my right arm. The worst area is around my left wrist where the skin is particularly tight around the joint

Help with blood tests please - Triglycerides high again
Hi All, Would appreciate help with my recent blood test results please. I am taking 75mcg/100mcg alternate days. Then upped my T3 in April to 12.5mcg per day after blood tests showed high cholesterol. My recent tests show T3 increased from 4.3 to 5.47 so very positive increase. LDL down from 3.4

What's your experience of coming of steroids
So I have my rheumatology appointment next week so hopefully will get a better understanding of what's going on. In the meantime I am on mycophenalate and a weaning dose of prednisolone for eye inflammation, started with 800mg in December and am now on 2.5mg before stopping in 2 months time. However

My type 2 diabetes
Hello there, hope everyone is healthy today! I’m 26 years old male from India. Two years back, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes when I visited the doctor for some other reason. It was no surprise to me as both my parents have type 2 diabetes and I am also moderately obese with no physical activity

Distortion of Hba1c test with levo
Hi Someone asked me to give further info about my claim that HbA1c tests cannot be relied upon if you are being treated with levothyroxine. I can't find that request now so I'm starting a new thread. The clearest statement is on the American Thyroid Association website.

What I learned about steroids and blood sugar levels from wearing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on the ZOE program
I’ve just finished using a CGM for 2 weeks as a paying participant in the ZOE study, which I mentioned in a previous post: https://healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk/posts/149526653/ive-signed-up-for-tim-spectors-zoe-study-looking-at-blood-sugars-and-gut-health Many PMR and GCA patients, self-included, have

LCHF / IF for August?
Hi all The title means Low Carbohydrate High Fat / Intermittent fasting. Both are ways of eating that can help people loose weight without the need to count calories or eat less and without the need to go hungry. Both ways of eating can also help to ease several health conditions. IF and LCHF work

Plant Sterols for reduction of cholesterol
Not necessarily related to PMR as I have had high cholesterol since I first started having blood tests years ago. My 'good' and 'bad' have always been about the same level. My current GP suggested statins. I declined. She then suggested trying plant sterols. I've ordered a couple pf packs from

Statins and Malcolm Kendrick's: The Great Cholestrol Con!
I saw Helvella's post regarding the article in the Guardian on NHS checks; I did post this elsewhere, but I guess would only be visible to folk following the original post, so I thought it may be helpful to post separately. Some on here may well be aware of this work: The work of Malcolm Kendrick

'But you look OK'
I don't look OK, spinal curvature, so I've never had this. Can folks explain to me where the idiots who say this are coming from? Broken limbs, skin conditions, people don't look OK. Systemic conditions, heart, liver, kidneys, GI, people being correctly treated look OK. My SIL has myeloma - but she

Are statins essential if you are suffering from AF and/or past strokes? And how much is 'good'?
Just seeking some views on what constitutes the 'correct' level of statins to take in various situations. I have been taking 10 mg of simvastatine for six months and found this is no problem for me and it has marginally reduced what was a very low LDL cholesterol level in the first place. But my doctor
