Anti coagulants or blood thinners?
A friend has recently been diagnosed with AF and another friend told her one of her drugs was a blood thinner. We were on a zoom call and I chipped in saying it wasn't a blood thinner it was an anti coagulant. The friend said that her husband (with AF) was on blood thinners. I started to doubt myself

Phrenic Nerve damage on top of everything else.
Morning all Please help me pick the bones out of this one. Just wondered if anyone on here had their Phrenic nerve damaged during their open heart surgery? I saw my Thoracic surgeon yesterday, and he said it was quite common, but I've never heard anyone talking about it on here. It causes paralysis

Another bisoprolol query
I take 2.5 mg of bisoprolol daily and in normal sinus rhythm a steady heart beat of 65 bpm. I've had three 40+ hour episodes of AF so far this year and was admitted to A & E during last episode. I had increased bisoprolol dose to 3.75 twice a day while in AF . The doctor in Same Day Emergency Care

Counting the days to an ablation for Focal Atrial Tachycardia
Tanta Anna follow up! Has anyone had this type of ablation? It’s my sixth ablation! This has been an awful experience for the last four months- now weaning off atenolol, which may be feel very ill. Stayed on that medication after many other trials. I am in the US, traveling 1000 miles to Dr in

Feeling Disappointed
Following an ablation for SVT in January 2021 I have been problem free for two and a half years (at least heart wise). I began to feel breathless about three weeks ago and now am experiencing fairly regular runs of af. I have had an ablation for af in the past as well as surgery to repair leaky valves

Travel insurance within the UK.
I'm travelling from Essex to Belfast next month and am looking for travel insurance. With belfast being in the UK I wonder if I actually need cover anyway. I am over 200 days post stem cell transplant and it will be my first time travelling abroad as such since the start of covid in 2020. I am considering

Doing the rounds of doctors again.
Early last month I went to Japan and met my daughter who's living over there. As we set off I was getting quite short of breath and my daughter (who is a doctor) started quizzing me as to why I was short of breath. I did try to brush it off-saying I was old and unfit but she kept persisting and told

Traditional Mediterranean diet and warfarin
I am 5 weeks post mechanical valve replacement. I'm on 8/7 alternating warfarin. I am 26 and was brought up on a Mediterranean diet which I have not been following since discharge because I have been avoiding the higher vitamin K foods. I have also been eating much more meat and high protein food than

Why Do I pain in my left ribs?
I would like to thank the BHF Nurse that actually took the bother to call me after I emailed for help and advice, she was very empathetic and gave me good advice about keeping a record of my blood pressure’s and taking it in the morning when I get up after I’ve pottered about but before any medication

heart bypass
just wondering how long people’s heart bypasses have lasted? I had a double bypass twenty one years ago and a stent fitted three years ago, all seems well up to now.

Alcoholism
Hi.Another member from the mental support forum suggested joining. My alcoholism came on quite suddenly, just after my Father passed away on 04/04/2022. Then 1 month later I had to have a heart operation. Since then my life has literally fallen apart. I used to be very physically active, dinghy

However I have developed a bit of a cough which is causing me extreme pain, almost as if I have broken my ribs. Has anyone else experienced this after Heart surgery and do you think

My First Pacemaker Followup
Today was my first real follow up with my EP since the fitting of my pacemaker and AV node ablation done on February 13 and 27th. I have not been feeling 100% although much much better than before all of this. I guess I expected more not realizing other things are in play with me and it’s not just
