Has anyone else stopped taking a daily statin?
Hi everyone, I'm wondering if I'm alone in deciding that I no longer wish to continue taking statins? I'm into my ninth week of recovery following Bypass Surgery. I'm extremely aware that compared to a lot of people who have found themselves in my situation I'm blessed. The only fly in the ointment

Flecainide update

Flecainide trial and update
Just a follow up for those who were interested in flecainide. I initially tried this as a PIP for ectopics that although not considered a significant 'burden', had an awful impact on my life. The PIP approach was very effective for me and so decided to go for the 'dailly' route. I had an ECG on day

Anti spasm tablets
I have been advised after a colonoscopy that I have diverticula which from time to time flare up and cause pretty painful stomach cramps. I’m on 50mg flecainide twice a day and 1.25mg of bisoprolol once a day. Does anyone know if the anti spasm drugs available over the counter interfere, interact or

All Done Now So Is It Onwards & Upwards?
Well folk’s thanks to all your words of encouragement and wow, how surprised I was that of you did so - thank you again. I apologise for the long post but hope it quells the nerves of some and the information helps others. I went in this morning at 0700 and though pretty nervous it wasn’t panic,

Permanent AF Again
Morning everyone. I have never posted to the forum before although I do try to read some of the posts. I hope this is OK to post. I have permanent AF and to be honest, it sucks. I was diagnosed back in October 2017 and had several cardioversion procedures, an internal cardioversion, cryo ablation

update / nurse
hi all, well had chat with nurse today and she said my bisoprolol was such a low dose it was not helping me, so going back on my evening one and if that doesn’t help up the flecainide. It’s not what I wanted. All my problems are coming from my left atrium, the rest of my heart is ok so she said. I asked

Breathlessness in Sinus Rhythm
I am a 72 year old female who was diagnosed with AF in January 2021. I had my second ablation on 26th October this year and have been in NSR ever since (thank goodness and long may it last!) However, although my heart rate and blood pressure are so far pretty well within acceptable parameters, I still

PERSISTENT COUGH
Hello Everyone.. I am new here and would appreciate your comments. I stopped smoking in May 2004. Since early 2005, I developed the most irritating cough which comes & goes very often. I am under a Consultant and he wants to send me to the "cough hospital" as, like my GP, he is totally baffled. I

Forging On in Permanent AF
Hi everyone. Saw Cardiologist for Paroxysmal AF in December 2019. He referred me to an EP. In Feb 2020, the week before I was due to see the EP, I had an SCA towards end of a squash match. According to all the reporting protocol records, despite 12 minutes of defib resus efforts by the squash centre

another episode
hi all, had another episode last night , only 132 BPM but heart felt like it was coming out of my chest. Had to take another bisoprolol. My reading from last night looked upside down again but my watch is up the right way and it’s all how it should be. My heart has been upset lately but I’m hoping

Is There Life after Thyroidectomy
Hi, I have just joined, so probably asking questions that I'll find down the line. But - I had a thyroidectomy 7 years ago, for Graves and Nodules; I had hope that the palpitations would stop, but, of course, they didn't, and I now have Afib I guess.. once or twice or more times a week, heart rate of

It was all going so well......
I had my ablation at the end of August and all went well. After 4 weeks, in agreement with the EP and my arrhythmia nurse, I stopped my 1.25 dose of bisoprolol and felt SO much better. Heart rate was quite fast but in NSR. Last Thursday AF reappeared - a brief visit and mild symptoms but most unwelcome

Anyone else had weight gain with Bisoprolol?
After a few long episodes of Afib in a row my cardiologist put me on daily Bisoprolol in April. Unfortunately within a month I had gained 10lb and felt extremely fatigued and lethargic so I saw him again recently and asked to go back to using it as a PIP. I fairly quickly regained my energy levels

Can medication be reduced after a certain time with no problems?
In 2012 I had a heart attack which resulted in the insertion of a stent, fortunately prompt treatment meant there was no major damage to my heart, although I started getting AF attacks in 2016. In 2017 I started taking 100mg of Flecainide and this was successful in stopping my AF attacks. In 2020 I
