Hello Everyone.. I am new here and would appreciate your comments. I stopped smoking in May 2004. Since early 2005, I developed the most irritating cough which comes & goes very often. I am under a Consultant and he wants to send me to the "cough hospital" as, like my GP, he is totally baffled. I take 4 different tablets to treat my blood pressure. Losartan 100mg, Bendroflumethiazide, amlodipine & bisoprolol. My cough can be very depressing and I don't like going out especially since covid as I get too many stares & looks. Does anyone have a cough which is perhaps due to their bp medication? Thanks. Marty 🌻

Hi Marty. It may well be the Losartan, depending on how long you've taken it and how long you've been experiencing the cough. Some people experience cough with it and some don't.
I also took rampiril and the coughing was awful. Now on losartan and no problems.
Hi Marty, I can't say I have noticed a cough as a result of my BP medication. What I would say is if it's an ongoing thing I would urge you to get your GP to refer you for a chest X-ray.
in common with others I have struggled in some BP meds (but ok with amlodipine and losartan) and had a persistent cough-usually in the night. So it does seem to be a consistent issue for people.
I have a persistent cough, I take Losartan but have only really noticed it since taking Ivabradine fir a fast heart rate. I also get postnasal drip and sneezing plus throat irritation.
a chat with your pharmacist might help, also reference to the website of Blood Pressure UK gives information which you could find helpful.
I had a constant cough after flu. I thought It was high BP until I started feeling worse I then went to hospital and it was confirmed I have pneumonia. This is my 6th pneumonia not sure if I’m prone to pneumonia’s because of having high blood pressure 🧐
Yes absolutely have taken Ramipril and Candesartan both resulted in annoying cough. Good to have it checked out but it clearly says on info dry cough. Good luck !
Yes I do.Also get Nasal drip as well now which causes mucous and coughing.
