Dilated cardiomyopathy
Hi, My name is Charlie and I was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy last year. Unfortunately last month I went into another severe ventricular tachycardia storm where I had to be put to sleep for 4 days, I've got a pacemaker and a defibrillator however I have been informed that I would be put on

So much pain
Hi all, I hope that you are doing well. Is anyone suffering from chronic pain due to central nervous system damage? How do you cope? I'm bedridden 2 years now after open heart surgery and overmedicated then undermedicated.

AV node ablation
hi all I thought I would let you know I had my AV node ablation last Friday. If you have read My posts you will realise I was scared silly about it as it is so final. Dr Graham at LGI was amazing as were all the staff. They were so careful to make sure I was as calm as I could be. The procedure

set pattern to PAF
I have had PAF for about 9 years. Symptoms tolerable but the attacks last about 12 hours. No diagnosed cause and cannot take medication owing to low heart rate just on apaxiban. Heart deemed to be too healthy to have an ablation & run even the low risk. I get an attack every 3 weeks, used to be less

Internal Burning
Hi,I am new here. I am desperate for answers. I had a hysterectomy 21 years ago and it was only through recurrent UTI’s that I was eventually diagnosed with vaginal atrophy. I was put on Vagifem and a vaginal moisturiser but whereas my UTI’s stopped the intense burning ( as if someone had put a tube

Current heart status
Just a little up date. Went and saw my cardiologist on Thursday. And there was a few positives. Which I need to except in my head. My appointment started with with usual blood pressure check and oxygen stat check. And weight. But I suppose I was still wondering why they wanted an echo which I did not

Dental Treatment after open heart surgery
Hi I am 7 months recovering from open heart surgery for a repair to my mitral and tricuspid valves. This morning one of my teeth started hurting when I was eating my breakfast. Now tonight the tooth feels a bit loose. My question is do I have to have antibiotics before any dental treatment and if so

Anticoagulant switching
There have been a few post recently about pressure to switch from apixaban to other anticoagulants. I’ve been on apixaban for a number of years now and so far not been asked to change. However my 92 year old father in law, who has chronic kidney problems, has just been given edoxaban instead of his

Hello all. Have been getting the benefit reading all the posts from all you lovely fellow sufferers but have been reluctant for no real reason to posts my own. So here goes. Has anyone had cardiac catheterization or heart surgery with GCA or PMR?
Hi everyone, in my last post I told you I was about to have an echocardiogram where they put a camera down your throat to get better pictures of the heart. That went fine except for very sore throat for about a week. Unfortunately they found multiple problems, all of which have appeared in the last year

angiogram
Has anyone had to stop their apixaban for an angiogram. I understand because of bleeding, but when I went to have my pre op assessment the nurse didn’t know. She "thought" I had to stop the apixaban for 2 days prior and take aspirin 75 instead. I have tried to get on to the hospital, but always answerphone

Gabapentin
Hi everyone. Does anyone have experience with gabapentin for anxiety and depression? Some background. My Father passed away in March 2022, which left me devastated. I was then diagnosed with a heart condition requiring a stent. Since then I have really been struggling. I used to be very fit and active

shoulder pain PMR or costocondritis?
I recently ranted about having to jump the queue to get a suprascapular nerve block (avoiding a 12 month waiting list ) rather than reverse shoulder surgery which is a massive procedure in comparison . I’m scheduled to go on Monday costing £5k so far which is annoying in itself but Crohn’s and reflux

PVCs, PAF and ablation
Hello everybody, I would be very grateful for advice. My problem is that after covid booster Moderna (September) I started feeling lots of ectopics (never had before). Tried deep breathing, flecainide 50 twice a day, metoprolol 25 mg but nothing helped. My cardiologist sent me to numerous tests:

new diagnosis advice on blood thinners please
I had my diagnosis only 4 days ago after an echocardiogram. I was prescribed Apixaban 5mg twice a day which are making me feel incredibly ill so I haven’t taken today’s dose. I intend to ring my surgery Monday morning to ask if there’s another medication blood thinner I could take instead with less
