AF problems...

I have had months of problems with my AF.

Feeling tired and fatigued most days.

My Kardia showing daily AF with TC 200 bpm and BC 40..50bpm. I do get a positive ok result most days.

My GP referred me for a 7 day Holter .....the report says" sinus rhythm throughout with ventricular rates 44 and 101bpm average 64 bpm. Nocturnal bradycardia seen. Very infrequent atrial ectopics no significant arrhythmia " . Essentially a normal Holter.

I am pleased with the results however,I wonder if the Kardia is getting it wrong and also my own problem of feeling very unwell. Or maybe another problem.

has anyone else ever had this problem.

I have a telephone call with my consultant tomorrow. Very confused, thanks for reading.

Do you have a medical diagnosis of AF or have you only picked it up on the Kardia? Have you forwarded the Kardia readings to your GP? Have you had a 12 lead ECG when these 200 bpm episodes are occurring?

It’s possible to go for weeks or months without AF and many Holter monitors don’t pick up AF for this reason. That’s why so many of us use Kardia or smart watches. The “possible AF” readings on these devices are only algorithms but the Kardia is reputed to be more accurate in that respect, but not 100%.

If you’ve had just one episode of AF it’s highly likely that you’ll have another one at some point in the future. I don’t think it is wise to believe that it was a mistake or misdiagnosis. Some people can go for 10-20 years before getting their second AF episode. However, they will be living entirely symptom-free lives without the need for treatment. In other words, completely normal. I don’t think that’s quite the same as never having had AF at all. Their risk of AF episodes in the future is higher than average.

I still believe you need to be careful and always bear in mind that some people with AF aren’t aware of it. If you have any concerns about your Kardia readings or your symptoms you should always contact your doctor.

For night issues, I would get a sleep test to check for sleep apnoea, which is quite common amongst AFers. Or at the very least use nasal strips during the night. More info on breathing correctly check YouTube James Nestor & Patrick Mceown. All this has helped me.
