How long before an oral B12 tablet affects your Active/Serum B12 level?
Assuming for a moment that you don't have PA, and that you can successfully absorb oral B12 tablets like a healthy person (who may just have a very poor diet): 1) How long does it take an oral B12 tablet to be absorbed, such that it raises an Active B12 blood test result (or failing that, a Serum B12

Active B12 testing
Hi all, I have held off SI this month as I was trying to work out what might be causing skin flushing that I’ve been having. My neuro symptoms and stiff and achey joints are back although I’ve been waiting to hear from my GP about whether they will test for anti- intrinsic factor antibodies again and

Positive rheumatoid factor
After being back on forth to doctors for test and rheumatology for over 2 years and getting nowhere. I rang up the doctors today to ask if they'd do blood tests as my knees have flared up. She checked my records and told me I had a positive rheumatoid factor tests in 2019, what could this mean? She told

A bit about me
I worked in a Haematology laboratory for over 40 years until retirement. In that time I saw the introduction of automation into Blood Counting, Coagulation testing, and later, B12, Folate, Ferritin, Intrinsic Factor antibodies and Erythropoietin assays. In addition to routine laboratory work, I participated

Low stomach acid tests
I asked some questions about B12 and Diarrhoea here: https://healthunlocked.com/pasoc/posts/145437733/vit-b12-and-diarrhoea Some people came back suggesting that low stomach acid (hypochlorhydria or achlorhydria) is a cause of stomach acid. I did the sodium bicarbonate "burp" test and it seems I might

IF and celiac test results 'normal'
Hi all, if you had tests on the NHS for Intrinsic factor did you get details of test or just told normal? I have two tests in my online records which just show up as n/a which I assumed meant they weren't taken at all. When I called the doctors they said that the intrinsic factor one was 'normal'. I

Where to get private testing done
Hi I just wondered is anyone can tell me where I could get more in depth testing done for B12 deficiency and pernicious anaemia as my GP only orders the standard serum B12 test and intrinsic factor test Thank you in advance 😊

B12 and hot flushes
Hello, I started my loading doses just over a year ago and ended up resorting to SI as many do around Nov 2020 as I had ongoing neuro symptoms (tingling & numbness in hands & feet, some shooting nerve pains in fingers). I now SI every 2 weeks although I still have some mild neuro symptoms (unsure whether

My Labs
Just got my labs back (keep in mind that I had a B12 injection from my former GP on June 30th). Not sure what to make of it. I have had two loading doses of B12 the last two days. Should I stay the course on the injections- daily for a week, then weekly for 4 weeks, then monthly? Intrinsic Factor: 1.1

B12 Testing
My GP tested my B12 in late June and it was 248. She gave me a B12 (Cyanocobalamin) injection on June 30th without doing any other tests. I then went to see a neurologist and she couldn’t believe that the GP had not done more testing. The neurologist has me scheduled today for the following tests: B12

Improvements from F4 to F3!!! Success story (well kind of😉)
Hi friends! If you have read my post before you know I am a 55 year old female with NASH and cirrhosis. I knew I had fatty liver for the last several years, but a January fibroscan of 265 and 15.5 led me to a biopsy and confirmed diagnosis of F4 NASH and cirrhosis. At this time I immediately dropped

False reading?
Hi my daughters B12 was 143 & she was given prescribed B12 50mg x2 daily. She’s had a recent blood test & her levels are 479 n/g. Her consultant wants her to come off the tablets & take a multivitamin. I’m a bit concerned it could be a false reading because she’s taking B12. It’s the second time she

Gastritis improvement with injections
I am curious if those with gastritis have found it improved after injections. I had an endoscopy last year, after monthly injections were started, which showed moderate gastritis. This year, the endoscopy showed marked improvement, along with better bowel movements and less intestinal cramping. The

Positive intrinsic factor tests
Hi there, I have had 2 positive intrinsic factor antibody tests. I also have all of the symptoms of PA. Fatigue, nausea, pins and needles in feet, loose stools, acid reflux and difficulty concentrating. My blood serum B12 levels however seem within the normal range. What do you guys think this means

Hi All, Sorry to post on such a crappy topic. So this study came out and it kind of scared me a bit as I have a focus score of 8 from my biopsy at diagnosis which is quite high. I said that I would report back after another catheterization. I just inserted a catheter and it went in as if there were virtually no obstruction. Unless it is just expectation and that I can some how control my sphincter which I haven't been able to in over a year, probably two. Getting ready for
