To Thyroidectomy or Not to Thyroidectomy
Hi there! Hoping for some guidance, advice and possibly real life results from some members. I was diagnosed with Graves' Disease this time last year. I had every possible symptom you can imagine. I started on Methimazole almost immediately. My numbers have gotten better but are still not controlled.

Open heart surgery
I had my first meeting with the surgical team at Papworth yesterday . I’m now pencilled in for an aortic valve replacement in June. We discussed my AF , the effects of surgery on episodes after and anticoagulants . Interestingly they stated that oral anticoagulants reduce the risk of stroke by 60/70%

Levothyroxine Dose Raised
Just a follow on from my last post. My Levo has been upped from 50 to 75. Re test in 8 weeks. There was no argument either, just used the GP online system at our surgery, explained my symptoms and then had a message from the pharmacy 😁😁😁

Blood Test Results/Niraparib
Hello everyone I was diagnosed with High Grade Stage 4 ovarian cancer in July 2016, and have since had chemo, then surgery, and then 2nd line chemo following a recurrence. After that, in September 2019, I was offered Niraparib, which has worked wonderfully for me! My GP has recently requested repeat

New Year update
Firstly Happy New Year to everyone. Had a phone call last Thursday from my surgery to book an appointment for a blood pressure review. Had the appointment this morning what an utter waste of my time and the GPs time they wanted to see me as my BP is still stubbornly very low and I'm still getting lightheaded

Post ectopic pregnancy
Hello, new here. Just wondering if anyone else had trouble conceiving after having a salpingectomy? And how long it took post surgery to conceive again? Im 36 and have only had one pregnancy in a year and a half of trying, it was unfortunately ectopic. Not sure if we should keep trying or go to our GP

x-ray results
just been down to the surgery to find out the results from my lumbar spine x-ray, the receptionist wouldn't print it off for me till the gp sees it but she said it says no lumbar spine fracture, and the x-ray I had for thoracic spine was there is a mild superior end-plate fracture at l1, otherwise normal

Heart attack
Hello I had a heart attack in October and 3 stents fitted. I have unstable angina which gives me pain most days and nights and currently have cold and a chest infection. I’ve also noticed I’m coming out in bruises a lot especially on my legs and arms. I’ve had my medication increased regularly which

Is redness normal?
I'm new to RA, still on waiting list to see rheumatologist in order to get proper diagnosis and treatment after several months of hobbling. The latest challenge is a very swollen warm, red ankle, very sore to walk on. Is this redness normal aswell as aches and swelling? GPs just prescribed NSAIDs.

Bra tips
Hi, I would like some help. I had some very comfortable supporting bras bought from my heart surgery.Alas these haven't offered much support at all after my breast procedure and became too tight. I had underestimated how big my boob would swell after surgery, the haematoma and seroma didn't help Ideas

cataract Surgery
I needed eye surgery to remove cataracts from both eyes, my first eye surgery was in April 2022, I then had to wait for clear vision in eye after surgery before the cataract in my second eye was removed. After both eyes regained clear vision, you need to have an eye test, and possibly get new spectacles

Initial consultation
Hello! My partner and I have been trying for a baby for over 2 years, and never been pregnant. We paid for private tests last year which showed he has low sperm motility. All tests for myself came back normal, although AMH low end of normal ( quite worried it's dropped a fair bit since the test) We finally

KNEE SURGERY?
High folks, went to see my consultant a few days ago, asked when I was getting my 1st surgery and we discovered I am NOT on the waiting list. This is apparently due to a CLERICAL ERROR with the orthopedic department. My consultant, lovely person has promised me she will ask for a priority appointment

NSAIDs
Here's a question that has been bothering me for a bit. Let's say I persevere and make it all the way to getting a transplant, and I'm getting along with it and the many requirements for keeping my new organ. Without any other issues cropping up, will NSAIDs ever be okay to take? I'm not planning
