Bra tips

Hi, I would like some help. I had some very comfortable supporting bras bought from my heart surgery.Alas these haven't offered much support at all after my breast procedure and became too tight. I had underestimated how big my boob would swell after surgery, the haematoma and seroma didn't help

Ideas welcome xx

I couldn’t tolerate a bra for awhile , i wore a vest with built in support initially. After about 6weeks i found a wireless smooth bra in M&S that was reasonably comfortable . I tried some front fastening sports bra but were not soft enough , also any lace or stitching was irritating. It’s probably trial and error to find one that suits you. Best wishes xx

I had a lumpectomy during COVID so i had to do everything on line , it was a nightmare . I ordered so many different bras they probably thought i was opening a shop 😊

I get my specialist bras from a company called Nicola Jane. In your particular case, Linda, I suspect it’s too early to have a bra at all?

Thank you I appreciated your feedback. The surgeon is adamant that I wear a support bra. I'm seeing her on Friday for my biopsy result. I'll see if she still holds that opinion.

M&S and Asda do post surgery bras which have been recommended by others at reasonable prices. No need to spend megabucks.

Thank you I agree, there is no need to spend a fortune. When I had my heart surgery I bought a variety of non wired supporting bras and found them to be good. The problem was after the Lumpectomy and sentinel lymph node biopsy my boob swelled up so much I couldn't wear the bras as my sizing had changed. I wasn't expecting that!

Nicola Jane do lovely post surgery bras and they are helpful to speak to. They have a catalogue and online shop.

The post operative bras from Marks and Spencer are really comfortable. I’m still wearing mine. My boob was huge after surgery too and very sore. You get money off if you tell them you are post operative at the till. Incidentally the swelling went down about 6 weeks after the radiotherapy.

Thanks for your feedback back. I saw the surgeon yesterday at the clinic . There is a build of fluid on the boob she was going to drain it but has decided to leave it over the weekend, hoping the fluid will dissipate naturally. Back to the clinic on Monday 🙏

I just wrote thi amazing reply to you and it disappeared.. short version left one was bigger than its sister - had bra consult at hospital tried on. Various ones consultant asked where had I got one I was wearing... TESCO. she said it was perfect very supportive this was in 2017 and they still make same one today. Am hoping to attach photo of it - if that proves impossible the details are. TOTAL SUPPORT BRA NON WIRED £9 ... white/black/pinkish colours, only thing is its nylon but at the price I got several as in summer I change it daily, In 2017 were about £6/£7 They wear very well I am still wearing original ones as elastic is still supportive I got new ones ready for when I need them- hope you can find one to fit when swelling reduce..hugs

Amoena specialise in post op bras and swimming costumes - they can be expensive but often have sales. Don’t forget you don’t have to pay vat on special bras. (On line)
