Heart attack

Hello I had a heart attack in October and 3 stents fitted.

I have unstable angina which gives me pain most days and nights and currently have cold and a chest infection.

I’ve also noticed I’m coming out in bruises a lot especially on my legs and arms.

I’ve had my medication increased regularly which has helped to some degree but there’s still a way to go.

I also suffer anxiety and depression.

The whole ordeal from the time it happened till now has been utter stress. Everything from my doctors surgery not getting the information from my cardiac unit in hospital and too much time waiting to book appointments at my doctors on hold for half an hour to 3/4 of an hour at a time, to picking up new medication, collecting smoking patches etc it’s like nothings been straight forward at a time when I needed it to be.

On the odd better day I feel more optimistic, but on bad days with angina all afternoon and night I feel like I’ve not long left.

I need to be up walking but can’t at the moment so I’m layed in bed waiting on a doctors appointment later today.

It’s been about ten weeks I’m totally fed up with it, my doctors referred me back to cardiac unit but nobody knows when that will be, and when going to hospital people just seem to be crammed in where possible, I couldn’t even get my medication last time for two days but did get an increased dose in my prescription.

Main things that have helped are having 10 mg bisoprosol from 1.25mg, and mono sodium 80mg but that needs increasing again.

Also the statins were bad at first especially atorvastitin 80mg I had night terrors fighting to stay alive in my dreams, I’m currently on rosuvastatin 20mg but these will go up to 40mg but are far better.

Simon I.

Hello :-)

I am sorry you are going through such a bad time

There is a nasty chest infection going about I have it that will make you feel unwell despite your heart issues if they can clear that up the other things you are feeling may not feel so bad so I hope you get that appointment later and stress to them how bad you feel and how this is affecting you

I am not sure if you are on any blood thinners but they bring you out in bruisers which even though they do not look nice are not harmful if that is the case

I hope others will come along that will be able to give you some better advise and I hope you will let us know how you get on :-) x

Hello :-)

I very strongly suspect that is where the bruisers are coming from for most of us this happens one of the side effects but they do their job in keeping the blood flowing and in a way shows they are working :-) x

So sorry to hear what's happening to you. I can only tell you from my experience in Atorvastatin I was the same as you and was changed to Rosuvastatin which didn't suit me either, so after posting on here and speaking to my GP the consensus was so long as I took the statin it didn't matter what time of day. I went back on Atorvastatin and take it after lunch now each day and I'm not having any problems with it.As regards the bruising I take Clopidrogel and yes I have bruises on my left lower leg that have been there for three months I'm putting it down to the Clopidrogel as I did show my GP and ask him why and he said it could be a little haematoma under each bruise , each bruise by the way was due to me either having a knock on my leg of which one was a fall. I did read a post or two of people who take blood thinners having the same bruising problems but I would definitely speak and show your GP.

I really hope along with your other problems you get some answers/help and you'll start to feel better soon.
