Acalabrutinib to treat CLL & AIHA
I have been on W&W since 2018 but in this last year have had four admissions to hospital with Auto Immune Haemolytic
Anaemia
, all admissions required blood transfusions and I felt pretty poorly with breathlessness, fatigue and very low Hb.

just that I had autoimmune issues after testing positive for parietal cell antibody , intrinsic factor was ok apparently, it was the gastroenterologist who confirmed I had pernicious

6 months after the test !

Iron deficiency
In the meantime I'd started taking ferrous bisglycinate anyway, off my own back, both to help with
anaemia
and RLS. So the GP gave me a prescription for ferrous Fumarate (1 x 210mg once daily) and said to review in 4 months.

Haematologist’s unsupportive B12 response
My own research brings up haemolytic
anaemia
, another autoimmune disease where the immune system attacks red blood cells. Thank you all in advance 🙏☺️

advice needed please re iron and thyroxine
I’ve been on Thyroxine for a number of years and have been fine, I’ve just been told that I have
Anaemia
and have started on Ferrous Fumarate tabs 210 mg. I’ve started to feel tearful and anxious this last week and wonder if the iron is affecting my thyroid?

frustrating!!
I have advised my son not to take any meds until we get the pernicious
anaemia
results back. Should we also ask to see another Gp and throw the nice guidelines at them? Thankyou

Iron Panel Results
Medichecks said "Often, at the beginning of iron deficiency

anaemia
, your body will deplete the iron stores first, whilst iron levels will still be sufficient" - so I'm guessing maybe this is what's happening

GP visit!
When I mentioned pernicious
anaemia
, she said ‘oh you would be anaemic’ if you had that! One thing I managed to get was a blood test for intrinsic factor antibody. Will probably come back negative so she will put ‘within range, no action required’. Again.

At What Level Is Low B12 Treated?
Full blood count and ferritin fine, I had iron deficiency
anaemia
and have been successful treated for that and all those levels looking good. My question is, at what level should low B12 be treated?

High B12 - more tests needed?
My SO has several
anaemia
symptoms - pallor, breathlessness, fatigue, dizziness, nausea etc. GP says the bloodwork is OK despite family history of PA. Blood tests (GP & Medichecks) so far show haemoglobin & MCH a bit below range, haematocrit & MCH low but in range.

One of the most notable deaths that has occurred most probably as a consequence of Pernicious
Anaemia
was Mary Todd Lincoln. However, symptoms of Pernicious
Anaemia
/B12D can mimick ‘schizophrenia’ or ‘bipolar’ formerly known as ‘manic depression.’

B12 Deficiency or Underactive Thyroid at Play?
On labs test online it states it could be
anaemia
or as a result of underactive thyroid. See here https://labtestsonline.org.uk/tests/full-blood-count-fbc at least I think MCV is the same as the above result. Grateful for any thoughts. I’m curious.
