Platelet count has been abnormal for some time, but never this high. Not sure whether I should request the ferrous sulphate again, OR could it be PMR flare.
I have felt pretty much ok since reducing to 10mg prednisone over the past week or so, A little tired maybe on some days.
Has anyone else had similar issues at all?
Bloods never seem to settled down!

In as much as there always seems to be some which are "abnormal" Before I was diagnosed with PMR they all seemed within range. Since PMR and starting steroids there is always abnormal readings on some results.
Some are raised because of the autoimmune disorder that causes PMR and some are raised because of pred. They tend to shift the balance of white blood cells and increase the total count.. So WBCs total will be high, neutrophils tend to be raised - so they are high, contributing to the high total, Others may shift down. And the computer usually flags anything that is even 0.1 outside the range - but it isn't significant or of concern to a human.
But without seeing which, I can't comment any further,
Thanks for your reply. White cells are normal, as is haemoglobin. Red cell normal.,Neutrophil also normal and Lymphocyte Monocyte slightly high. Eosonophil also abnormal but only slightly. the only one identified by GP was platelet.
Platelets do rise in response to pred and can take a long time to settle back down. High levels of monocytes may indicate the presence of chronic infection, an autoimmune or blood disorder, cancer, or other medical conditions so possibly due to the underlying cause of the PMR which is not affected by pred - it just mops up the inflammation.
I understood (I’m not medically trained) that such levels increased if one was say getting over any infection (like virus or a large cut) and can stay in the body for some time afterwards.
